Rejection – Hebrews 10:26-27
If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
Many have asked me about this verse out of concern that they may have fallen from grace. But there is a difference in “deliberately sinning” from “falling to temptation.”
Many say “But Steve, I deliberately sinned when I fell to the temptation.” But here is the difference. When you fall to temptation, you are remorseful afterward. Yet, one who deliberately sins without even a temptation carries no remorse later. They deliberately choose to sin with no desire for obedience. See the difference? It’s rejection versus failing. It’s walking the opposite direction versus falling in the right direction. The verses that immediately follow show this is about rejection.
Hebrews 10:28-29 - Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, …”
Rejection versus falling.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.

Hebrews 10 is the most terrifying chapter in the entire bible, in my opinion. It shows that it is possible to reject the gospel after accepting it - and the consequences are more severe than if a person rejects the Law of Moses. If believers reject the Law of Moses, how much more are they rejecting the gospel? Terrifying. @ironshield
I'll need to reread Hebrews 10...BUT that is scary!!!!!
In the end, it truly comes down to the condition of our heart.
We just have to be careful when it comes to the heart, the Bible does call it deceitful!
Ezekiel 36:26
AMEN..can't wait for that to happen!
As I understand the whole of the New Testament teaching on this subject, the the difference between the one who is genuinely born again and the false professor is that, when they fall into sin, the true believer will come under conviction to repentance, or be chastened to repentance, or even be taken from the world in death so as to stop the sin. The false believer can turn from their profession and continue in this state of deliberate sin without these same consequences.
If God does not chasten, then they are bastards and not sons.
Blessings be with you today.
Exactly....we as believers in God should feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit when we sin. If we ever stop feeling that we know we are in trouble!!!
