Just Do It – Mark 2:13-14
Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
Wow. Just like that, Matthew left the tax collectors booth and followed Yeshua. As I sat and pondered this thought, some other thoughts hit me. Did you know we never see Yeshua begging someone to follow Him? Neither do we see Yeshua arguing His point to try to convince others of what He taught. He simply gave them the truth in love and that was it. For the most part, the only time we see Yeshua expounding on what He taught to anyone besides His disciples was when Nicodemus came to Him in private. Other than that, he simply presented the truth.
There are two lessons to be learned here. First, share the truth in love. Don’t pound it on people till they believe. Second, when He tells you to do something, do it. Don’t wait for Him to plead with you because He may never.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
