Blessed – Luke 11:27-28

As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.” He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.” Yeshua said “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Now, this statement was not given to belittle His mother Marry. We know the scriptures declare she was indeed blessed as given in Luke 1:42. However, Yeshua is making a statement that all will be blessed who hear and obey the Word of YHWH.

The greater question is “What is the Word of God Yeshua is referring to here?” Do you believe in all of the Word of God? Or do you believe only in parts of it? What was considered the Word of God when Yeshua actually said those words in Luke 11? What would the people who heard Him say those words have understood Him to be referring to? They only had what we call the “Old Testament”. So what should we be calling the Word?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!

We should call all of the Word of God the Word. Whatever men may have known at the time the Author of the Word, God, knew the beginning and the ending.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV)
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

I think you are limiting the passage - and the Lord a bit. All of the Word of God speaks of Him. He is the word of God.

Yes, of course.....

John 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

howdy sir simms50! I guess the answer is pretty obvious isn't it? But people don't think about it or have been taught wrong.

I think sometimes people just don't think about. When Yeshua was being tempted by the enemy what did he do....quote scripture, from the "old" testament. The only time "scripture" was quoted it was either the old testament or the words of Yeshua himself!

howdy again sir simms50! yes sir, that's an excellent point and one which has to make people stop and think!
