STEEMCHURCH: The peace of Christ
Peace is a state of tranquility that is very difficult to find in our days, given the difficult circumstances of today, the amount of daily activities and the shortage of time that lead to a very hectic and stressful life, accompanied by anguish, worry and anxiety. . Throughout the centuries it has been something that the world has always wanted and tried to achieve by all means, although in many cases it has not been successful, we have seen how many nations have made treaties in search of the much longed for peace.
Peace is fullness, rest, rest, serenity, tranquility, calm, peace and enjoyment of life, but above all it is love and forgiveness. It is the greatest prize that can be obtained and it is the best gift that we as human beings can give to humanity, because those who manage to remain calm are key pieces in the puzzle of life. It is something that all people need and know where to find it but many times, unfortunately they do not want to accept the one who gives it. The peace of Christ is the peace that surpasses all understanding, because only He can give us peace even in the midst of the worst of conflicts.
There are millions of people who live without peace, there is despair, there are worries, people even get sick with anguish and stress. In the time of Jesus the expression eirene was used, which had a connotation of peace, this was used as a greeting of welcome and farewell, indicating the desire for good health and material prosperity. So it was a greeting where he expressed the desire that he would do well in health and material prosperity but nothing more.
The Bible says in Matthew 10:13 "And if the house is worthy, your peace will come upon it, but if it is not worthy, your peace will return to you."
In the Old and New Testaments for peace the word Shalom is used, it does not mean simply the lack of problems, it transmits a desire not only for health and economic well-being but also for harmony, inner peace, calm and tranquility. It is to be complete. Welfare, health, prosperity, peace, joy, save, victorious. That is what Jesus is referring to when he says my peace, he is saying my Shalom I leave you, my Shalom I give you. Jesus is leaving something of his very being with us.
So Shalom or the peace of God is not only not having problems, you can be free of problems, there is not something external that disturbs you but still not have peace inside, there are people who often do not know what they want. It happens because there is nothing that disturbs them externally but they do not have peace, there is no peace in their lives. There are young people who have "everything" but have no peace in their lives, even so they commit suicide, we see people who take their own lives and many of them do not have an external cause that leads them to make that decision but they have not themselves .
Shalom is complete, total, external and internal peace, that peace that comes from having direct access to the presence of God, that peace that comes from knowing that there is no condemnation for those of us in Christ Jesus, that peace that comes from knowing that we are friends of God, we have been forgiven, that division that was between God and us has been broken, that peace is Shalom, it is something complete.
The owner of peace is Jesus, peace is from HIM, says the bible "my peace I leave you", it is from HIM and it is only through HIM that we can obtain it. We see daily how many people seek to obtain it by other methods such as Yoga, meditation, steps for inner peace, among others, but none of this really fills them.
"These things I have spoken to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have affliction; But trust, I have overcome the world "(John 16:33).
The issue is in keeping us united to Him. Allowing Jesus to govern our being, what we think and do. This disposition leads us to preserve the inner peace that turns men and women into true victors, above the circumstances. GOD Desires to give us his peace so that we can go through the afflictions in victory and without anguish. He gives us what is his.
As a loving father who gives gifts to his children, he left us his legacy of peace, something of his, of his very being, of his essence. Jesus was speaking to his disciples, the peace of God is only for those who have made friends with God. It is available to all but only those who have accepted it can have access to that peace.
The peace of GOD is not how the world can give it, there are abysmal differences. The peace offered by the world is conditioned to externally things go well, is conditioned to the emotions of people, then it is very changeable because emotions change very fast, however the peace of God makes people peaceful beings, which They live happily always despite the circumstances. They know how to give love easily, they know how to help and serve others without expectin
