THANKSLIVING

So many of us are used to counting our blessings with our fingers while some count their troubles with the calculator. Worry and complaints has never solved any situations, rather it multiplies it.

Worry makes you weary so quit it and look at the bright side of things with a thankful heart.

Living a life of thanks has to do with being thankful come what may. Through the good, bad and the ugly. Not because I said so but because God Himself commanded it:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7

The reason why you most times do not feel the need to give thanks is just because you are not deliberate about it, hence you do not seem to really see anything to be thankful for. Thanksgiving has to be intentional. Also you do not really need to get to that religious position of kneeling down to pray before giving thanks. You could do it anywhere. You can just start a conversation with a friend on how God has been faithful to you and you will be amazed at what difference you are also making in the life of your listener.
Be deliberate about every phase of your life:

Instead of getting worried that you are still single, give thanks that you are single and strong and focused to achieve your set goals with absolute focus.

Instead of complaining and getting worked up about your numerous responsibilities in marriage, why not give thanks that you have a family and a good spouse you can care for.

I sometimes complain about how my son gets the sitting untidy, my wife is quick to remind me how some couples long for kids that will turn the house upside down and hence I should be thankful I have one already.

Instead of getting worried about how your income isn’t enough, why not remember and thank God who has kept you through the past months with the same income level and you survived.

My Dad just went through a major surgical operation recently that we spent over one million Nigerian naira (about 943.4sbd), yet he says I thank God for always leaving my space of thanks. He says all this even while he was in pain. I myself get so amazed at his level of THANKSLIVING.

That you are alive is a lot to be thankful for, don’t take it for granted. Many are paying for that oxygen you are taking in for free.
