A Brighter Perspective On Sun Worship In Christianity

Is the concept of the halo a sneaky attempt to turn everyone into sun worshippers? Probably not. Here's why.

There's certainly a correlation, but let's look a bit deeper, as well. What are the sun gods generally known to do? What does the sun represent? Why do people often become intentionally drawn to worship this creation as a divine thing or being?

Because, by God's design, it provides two key things, which in a spiritual or allegorical sense are one. Firstly, the raw energy which allows life on Earth. It gives life. Second, it literally gives knowledge by giving light to see by. The deities associated with it are generally thought to know and see everything the light touches, and darkness never remains in a land for more than a night.

Worship and depiction are not synonymous. While depicting Christ's divine nature, how would you, as an ancient artist, communicate his knowledge, wisdom, sheer power, and life-giving benevolence to others of the same culture? How would you convince other cultures that your true God possessed as much or more of these traits as their false gods?

Another perspective on matters of sneaky manipulated worship like this one proposes to be, is a fairly simple question.

Do you believe in the Word of God? If any supposed Christian answers no to this, even if they are bluffing to avoid persecution, every truly faithful person would view their answer as valid. If you deny Christ even falsely, in truth you have betrayed him. Denouncing a deity is a very serious thing.

Now, with a mindfulness toward double-standards, ask any Christian if they worship the sun or the halo for that matter. If they say they don't, then in truth, they do not.

Therefore, even if the early Roman Catholic church's Roman paganism stretched this far, as it might have, it is more their own foolishness, not a significant stumbling block to the legitimately faithful. They would be guilty of their own intent their sins but causing Christians to worship the Sun wouldn't be among them.
