THE ANCHOR OF YOUR LIFE.
Reading passage:- Luke 12:27
- Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Have you noticed that no matter how tempest the storm is, the nests of birds are not removed? On many occasions, roofs of Well-built houses have been removed by mild breezes. Jesus was in effect describing the fact that the lilies of the fields and the birds of the air do not toil and spin, yet they are most well-dressed.
Have you ever given thought to this? If God cares for all His creatures including animals and plants, how much more will He care for humans. Jesus asked "if then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and tomorrow is cast into the oven; how Mich more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith"? (Luke 12:28).
This is a guarantee that God is certain in providing material things for believers. Christ dissuaded believers from pursuing the basic material needs of life. He clearly showed that these things a sought by nations. He summarized it this way: your Father knoweth that ye have need for these things. Jesus was talking about the basic needs of life. At no point was He teaching against them. So, you can see in the text what He was correcting; namely, having a wrong attitude toward wealth, worries and anxiety.
These have killed a lot of people; and many believers' faith have been drained. Some have suffered have a shipwreck of faith by reason of worries. Others have left the church because their material needs were not met. How sad?
This leads to a thought provoking question what then should Christians pursue? Or what is the anchor of your life? '..... Seek ye the kingdom of God; and all things shall be added unto you' (Luke 12:31).
The secret of a believer's life is the kingdom of God; and the kingdom is Christ. The Apostle Paul said in Colossians 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God".
Again, he said in verse 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Paul referring to himself affirmed that the promise of life is in Christ Jesus. (2Timothy 1:1)
Christ is the anchor of your life. Let your belief in Him grow strong on daily basis and He will take care your material needs.
