Personally I see here that they are things that can defer our hearing from God and that could be listening to songs that does not edify the spirit there by blocking your ear spiritually.
Another is listening to gossip.
I know someone will ask how this defer our hearing from God now this is it.
I once heared a story of a man that had all sort of movies in his house, ranging from pornography etc.
He also had all kinds of music where naked women were dancing show casing their bare bodies.
Not only that he had pictures of nude women pasted on the walls of his house.
And surprisingly he was a committed member in his church.
Well maybe he thought all those dirty things he had at home didn't really matter.
Little wonder some people will have pornographic music,movies or pictures on their phone and also a bible in their same phone.
I wonder how the deal with it.
Remember we can't serve two masters at the time.

Now back to the story;

One day while he was still praying seeking to hear God speak, he heard a knock on the door, he ignored it at first and when the knock came again he had no other option than to open the door he saw a man in white and he wondered who was that even while thinking he ushered the man into his house but the man said he isn't coming in because his house is so dirty, he wondered what the gentle man was talking about, he ignored the man, smiled and ask him to come in but the gentle man again declined.
He had no option than to bring two stools out and sit with the man outside.
The gentle introduced himself has God's messenger to him but being that his house is full of all sort of dirty films,music etc so he couldn't come in, again the messenger said that God was speaking to him but he could not hear because his ear were filled up by worldly music, music that never gave Glory to God so that alone deferred his hearing from God.
Also the messenger told him that his hands too were contaminated for even touching the pornographic movies, not just that his spiritual eyes were no more functioning because it is piled up with pornography and dirty movies.

When the messenger finished saying all this he broke down and wept. He had to rush inside and discard all the things that never gave Glory to God.

So you see God might be speaking but we are not hearing maybe because of the cares of this life or because of the movies, pictures, music etc in our homes.
I hope I have been able to communicate well?
Of a truth we need to train or rather encourage our ears to hear from God and one way of doing this is by letting go or doing away of certain things that does not give Glory to God.
