AIDS.
It is a deadly disease
But there is something that is much worse than the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and this is the "spiritual AIDS".
A syndrome of acquired spiritual immunodeficiency has something that matches the characteristics of AIDS.
• It is acquired. You take it, you stick it, or you buy it. You become infected with him. Once you acquire it, it remains in you.
• His presence in you is related to the breaking of defenses in your life. Just as the immune system defends you from diseases, from germs, viruses or bacteria that attack you, so your spiritual immune system helps you to stay without falling before each trick or temptation of the enemy. When your immune system weakens, you get sick. When your spiritual immune system weakens, you are easy targets for the devil.
• It is a deficiency. You are lacking the spiritual immune system that you are supposed to have. The barriers that once kept you away from sin have been knocked down in your mind. You know that some people feel afraid of you, a person without AIDS, of what you should feel about them. Why? Because you are immune and they are not. You carry germs and viruses in your body that can not affect you because you have a healthy immune system, but those viruses and germs can destroy them.
The person with spiritual AIDS, is infected with everything that happens through it. The Bible says: "As a city torn down and without a wall is a man whose spirit has no reins" (Proverbs 25:28). Without immunity, without defense, without walls.
• It is a syndrome. Spiritual AIDS becomes a habit. It is located in the spirit and becomes part of the identity of man.
The man with an unclean spirit had a spiritual illness that was out of control, and that was killing him. I was certainly living in the tombs. He was not far from dying.
The man with AIDS is a man who lives with a time bomb in his body. Death stalks him. The man with AIDS also lives in a condition of death and his condition is worse because it is a state of eternal death.
The cure for spiritual AIDS is found in Psalm 34: 14-17: "Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. "
