Invocatory Rites, Inner Healings, and Prayer

최근 기사에 무당에게 91차례에 걸쳐 13억 원을 바친 어느 자매의 이야기가 뉴스에 실렸습니다.
Recently, there was an article about a lady who gave 1.3 billion KRW (1.3 million USD) to a shaman, in a course of 91 transactions.

무당은 그녀에게 굿을 안 하면 죽는다고 공갈을 쳐서 굿을 하도록 했다고 하죠.
The shaman threatened the lady that she would die unless she goes through invocatory rites.

한두 번도 아니고 무려 91차례에 걸쳐서, 무려 13억 원이라는 엄청난 돈을 들여 굿을 하다니 일반인들이 생각하며 어처구니가 없을 겁니다.
I am pretty sure many people who have heard her story would think she is out of her mind.

그러나 굿의 역사는 우리네 민족의 역사와 함께 하고 있습니다.
However, invocatory rites through shamans have been part of our culture for a long time.

만약 굿이 전혀 효험이 없었다면, 그토록 많은 사람들이 그토록 오랫동안 무당에게 의지하고 굿을 요청하였을까요?
And why would people keep on doing that, if there were no effects?

그래서 오늘은 그 얘기를 하고 싶습니다.
I would like to discuss about that today.

굿이 효험이 없는 것이 아니에요.
Invocatory rites are not mere superstition.

굿을 하면 죽을병에 걸린 사람들이 병에 차도가 있고 살아가는 경우가 있습니다.
Some people have become well from suffering terminal illnesses, after they have gotten such rites.

그래서 사람들은 많은 돈을 들여서 굿을 하는 겁니다. 굿은 귀신을 달래는 것입니다.
So people who have seen somebody getting well through these rites tend to follow. Invocatory rites usually are for pacifying demons.

그래서 귀신이 좋아하는 각종 제물을 차려놓고, 형형색색의 옷을 입은 무당이 귀신에게 듣기 좋은 노래를 부르고 춤을 추며 귀신을 달래는 의식이 굿입니다.
An invocatory rite is a ceremony to pacify demons; shamans prepare great food demons like, they wear colorful clothes, and they sing and dance however the demons like.

그래서 굿을 하면 병의 차도가 있기 때문에 사람들이 다급해지면 무당에게 달려가는 것이죠.
And these rites usually work; that is why people run to shamans when they are in troubling situations.

그러나 귀신이 사람의 몸에 들어오는 목적은 불행에 빠뜨려서 고통을 주어 생명과 영혼을 사냥하는 것입니다.
But the main goal for demons to enter people is to make them suffer, in order to hunt their lives and souls down.

그렇기 때문에 이미 굿을 해서 병이 나아졌다는 사람들도 덫에 걸린 겁니다.
So you could be certain that people who claim to experience such thing are also already deeply in demons' trap.

귀신들이 자주 몸을 아프게 하기 때문에, 그 때마다 무당에게 달려가서 굿을 요청하는 것입니다.
They make people's body hurt often; and people go to shamans when this happens.

가산을 탕진하고 가정이 몰락하는 이유입니다.
That is how people lose all their savings and end up losing their families as well.

굿을 해서 귀신을 달랜다고 하더라고 언 발에 오줌 누는 격이기 때문이에요.
Even if you satisfy demons with these rites, their tantrums will never end.

그러나 사람들은 귀신들의 정체와 속내를 모르기 때문에 무당에게 엄청난 돈을 주며 매달리죠.
But people don't know that; and they rely heavily on shamans, giving them all the money they have.

무당이 섬기는 귀신들은 조상신, 산신령, 선녀 등으로 위장을 해서 다가오지만 그들의 목적은 한결같습니다.
They claim to be ancestors, angels, gods of nature,etc., but their purpose is one.

사람들을 죽이고 멸망시키는 것입니다.
It is to kill and destroy people.

그렇다면 교회에서 하는 내적치유는 어떤 의미일까요?
Then what is Inner Healing that churches go crazy over?

먼저 내적 치유자들의 얘기를 올려드리겠습니다.
Let me explain the basic theory.

예수를 믿은 후에도 예전의 악습관을 버리지 못하거나 문제 행동을 합니다.
Some people don't change their worldly (or bad) ways, even after accepting Jesus as their saviour.

어렸을 때 심한 폭행을 당하거나 부모의 이혼으로 인한 상처 등이 있다면 성인이 되어서도 부모를 증오하며 용서하지 못하고 살아갑니다.
For example, a person who grew up under abusive or neglecting parents, they still cannot forgive their parents even to this day.

그래서 성령께 이 상처를 맡기고 치유 받는 것을 내적치유라고 합니다.
So they ask the Holy Spirit to help them heal from the wounds. This is the basic definition of Inner Healing.

그러나 내적치유자들은 심리학적인 방법을 사용하고 있습니다.
However, Inner Healers use psychological methods, rather than biblical.

타악기를 동원하는 열정적인 찬양으로 집회분위기를 띄우고, 특정한 단어나 구절을 반복해서 외치도록 해서 감정의 격앙을 일으킵니다.
They crank up the atmosphere by playing loud, fast music; they tell people to shout out certain words and repeat, in order to get them excited.

또한 편지를 태우고, 바가지를 깨뜨리고, 타이어를 쳐대는 등의 기이한 방법을 동원하지요.
And they also use methods such as burning letter they have written or crush and beat down on objects such as tires and bowls.

이런 심리치료는 이미 꿈 치료, 최면치료, 음악이나 미술치료 등의 방식과 다를 바가 없습니다.
This is no different from other psychiatric treatments such as music, art, hypnosis, and dream therapies.

예수님의 십자가 보혈 외에 다른 무슨 능력이나 방식이나 도구를 이용하여야 하나요?
Why do you must use other methods than pleading the blood of Jesus Christ?

그래서 내적 치유집회에 참석하면 죄다 고질병이 치유되고 정신질환이 나았습니까?
And have all the participants recovered from illnesses and conditions?

내적치유는 뉴에이지의 사상과 기법을 물려받은 사악한 방법으로 굿처럼 귀신을 달래는 것과 유사합니다.
Inner Healing was developed from the New Age movement; it is similar to pacifying demons, just like the invocatory rites mentioned earlier.

그래서 집회에 참석한 사람들은 감정이 격앙된 상태에서 신비적인 현상을 경험하고 있죠.
So the participants experience out-of-this-world phenomena while their excitement is at its peak.

그래서 당시에는 병이 치유된 것처럼 느껴지나, 집에 돌아와서 그 병이 재발되는 것을 경험하고 있습니다.
And they may feel they are cured; unfortunately, they would feel the condition come back as soon as they get home.

성령께서는 제게 내적치유는 기도가 부족한 자들의 행태이고, 귀신을 달래는 방식과 유사하다고 하였습니다.
The Holy Spirit told me Inner Healings are done by people who don't pray enough; he also told me that it is similar to pacifying demons.

이러한 비성경적인 치유방식이 우리네 교회에 들어오게 된 통로는 신사도운동을 적극적으로 받아들인 온누리교회나 순복음교회의 영향을 받은 바가 큽니다.
These methods came into Christian churches through New Nation and Full Gospel churches, which have accepted the Neo Apostolic Movements early on.

신사도운동은 신비한 체험이나 기이한 경험 등을 죄다 성령의 역사라고 말하고 있습니다.
Neo Apostolic Movements claim all types of supernatural phenomena or experiences are from the Holy Spirit.

성령이 활동하시는 목적은 귀신을 쫓아내고 고질병을 치유하면서 영혼을 구원하는 것이 아닙니까?
But isn't the main goal of the Holy Spirit is to rescue souls while driving demons out and healing people?

그러나 그들은 귀신에 대해 알지도 못하고 성령의 사람으로 훈련시켜 영혼구원사역을 하는 것도 아닙니다.
But Inner Healers don't care for that type of ministry; they don't even have much knowledge about demons.

열광적인 집회분위기에 몰입되어 특정한 주문을 외치면서 심리적인 격앙에 빠질 뿐입니다.
They just fall into a trance due to the exciting atmosphere the meetings create.

이곳에서도 더러 질병이 치유될 수 있습니다.
And conditions or issues may be resolved through Inner Healing.

마치 굿을 해서 병이 잣는 것과 마찬가지입니다.
It is pretty much the same as the invocatory rites.

이는 귀신들을 달래서 병의 차도가 있도록 느끼는 것이지, 완전한 치유를 하는 게 아니지요.
These methods pacify demons and have them pause for a little bit; you'd think you are all cured, but you really are not.

귀신들은 달래야하는 존재가 아니라 쫓아내야 하는 존재입니다.
Demons are supposed to be driven out, not pacified or comforted.

성경을 보세요. 예수님과 사도들은 죄다 기도로서 귀신을 쫓아내고 고질병을 치유하면서 복음을 전파하지 않았습니까?
Read the Bible; didn't Jesus and his apostles drive demons out, heal people, and spread the gospel only by praying?

그런데 왜 성경에도 없는 기이한 방식이 동원되어야 할까요?
Why would you have to use such methods, which are not even mentioned in the Bible?

이 시대에 들어와서는 질병을 고치는 예수님의 보혈의 능력이 사라지기라도 했다는 말입니까?
Did Jesus' ability to work miracles die down in the 21st century?

예수께서 그의 열두 제자를 부르사 더러운 귀신을 쫓아내며 모든 병과 모든 약한 것을 고치는 권능을 주시니라(마10:1)
Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. (Matthew 10: 1)

그렇다면 왜 크리스천들은 기도만으로 질병의 치유를 받지 못하는 것일까요?
Then why can't Christians be healed just by praying?

예수님은 제자들에게 모든 질병을 고치는 능력을 주셨다고 하시지 않으셨습니까?
Didn't Jesus said he gave all his followers to ability to heal sicknesses?

이러한 문제가 우리네 교회의 해묵은 딜레마입니다.
This is the dilemma the churches today have; and they had this for a long while now.

자신들이 예수님의 제자라고 철썩 같이 믿고 있지만, 제자에게 나타나는 영적 능력이 없기 때문이죠.
It is because these Christians are not true followers of Jesus Christ, although they believe they are.

그래서 교회의 기도회에 기도소리가 잦아들고 있습니다.
And because of that, there are less and less voices in churches that truly pray to God.

그러므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병이 낫기를 위하여 서로 기도하라 의인의 간구는 역사하는 힘이 큼이니라(약5:16)
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (James 5: 16)

여호와는 악인을 멀리 하시고 의인의 기도를 들으시느니라(잠15:29)
The Lord is far from the wicked,
but he hears the prayer of the righteous. (Proverbs 15: 29)

성경은 모든 사람들의 기도가 응답된다고하지 않으셨죠.
The Bible clearly states that not all prayers are answered.

하나님이 기뻐하시는 의인의 기도를 들으신다고 하셨습니다.
God only listens to prayers of the righteous ones--the ones he rejoices.

그러므로 여러분의 기도에 응답이 내려오지 않거나 질병을 치유하지 못한다면, 하나님께서 여러분을 의인으로 여기시지 않는다는 증거입니다.
So if you have no ability to heal sicknesses or don't get your prayers answered, that must mean God doesn't think you are righteous.

아무리 자신의 영접기도나 주일성수 혹은 희생적인 신앙행위를 들어가며, 십자가의 보혈의 공로로 자신의 죄가 용서함을 받은 의인이 되었다고 소리를 고래고래 지르더라도 말이지요.
And it doesn't matter how firmly you believe that you are God's true follower, or how hard you work for church services.

여러분의 말이 맞는다면 성경이 허구이고 예수님의 말씀이 거짓이라는 것 밖에 되지 않겠습니까?
If what you believe is true, that only means the Bible and word of Jesus are bogus statements, doesn't it?

하나님이 바울의 손으로 놀라운 능력을 행하게 하시니 심지어 사람들이 바울의 몸에서 손수건이나 앞치마를 가져다가 병든 사람에게 얹으면 그 병이 떠나고 악귀도 나가더라 이에 돌아다니며 마술하는 어떤 유대인들이 시험삼아 악귀 들린 자들에게 주 예수의 이름을 불러 말하되 내가 바울이 전파하는 예수를 의지하여 너희에게 명하노라 하더라 유대의 한 제사장 스게와의 일곱 아들도 이 일을 행하더니 악귀가 대답하여 이르되 내가 예수도 알고 바울도 알거니와 너희는 누구냐 하며 악귀 들린 사람이 그들에게 뛰어올라 눌러 이기니 그들이 상하여 벗은 몸으로 그 집에서 도망하는지라(행19:11~16)
God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. (Acts 19: 11-16)

우리네 교회의 해묵은 딜레마를 푸는 열쇠가 위의 구절에 있습니다.
Above is the passage that will resolve the dilemma our churches have.

바울의 앞치마나 손수건만으로도 악귀가 쫓겨나가고 질병이 치유되었지요.
Paul did not even have to go to every sick people; even his apron and handkerchiefs were able to heal people.

그래서 제사장 스게와의 일곱아들도 바울이 말하는 예수의 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내었습니다.
So Sceva's 7 sons tried chasing away demons by copying what Paul did.

그랬더니 귀신이 예수도 알고 바울도 알거니와, 너는 누구냐면서 그들에게 올라타서 흠씩 패주고 있지요.
But what they have received was a beat-down from the possessed, for the demons inside did not know who these people were, although they knew Jesus and Paul.

여러분의 기도가 능력이 없는 이유는, 하나님은 여러분에게 관심도 없으시고 귀신조차도 우습게 보는 사람이기 때문입니다.
The reason why your prayer does not have any effect or abilities is because God has no interest in you; demons may even look down on you.
