INGRATITUDE
What does ingratitude means? It is simply put as not appreciating for what have been done to you,,,,when you don't value the good things they have done to you even if it is small,,,some will even go to the extent of saying,"is it because of this small thing you did that you never allow me rest" it shouldn't be so. God doesn't want us to show ingratitude to someone who has willingly helped us in one way or the other,whether big or small. Ingratitude negates the will of God and when you show ingratitude,,it means you have backslidden from God's way because He never support that with us as true Christians.
1 Thessalonians 5:18,
"In every thing give thanks:for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you"
Then it means showing gratitude is a mandatory will for us as Christians,,,so we should follow the will of God if not,then we are disobedience to Him.
There are some who doesn't show gratitude in them,some do it intentionally while others don't see anything good in it. Am adage will say, "when you appreciate what has been done to you today,,surely you will receive another tomorrow."
In the book of Luke 17:11-19, we were told of ten lepers who got healed but only one came back to show appreciation. If the other nine could reason in their mind to see the gravity of the goodness Jesus did to them,they would have also come to show gratitude. Perhaps the other one would have told them but they refused but he went ahead to thank Jesus. The happiest thing there was that he was made whole completely than the other nine.
The reason for ingratitude is sin because you can't be holy and reading the Bible and not make use of what is written there. It is those that are still living in Sin that would think ingratitude is just normal and moreover,they are blinded spiritually to see the benefits attached to showing gratitude. Another reason is when you don't see all what God has done for you in all ways. Keeping you from January to October should make you see reasons to be grateful to Him. We can also say when you keep bad company,they make you see reasons why you shouldn't be grateful. Perhaps the other nine lepers would have discouraged him not to thank Jesus but he made up his mind to go back to the one who has made them to be among the living ones and also socialize with them.
Pride also is another thing that makes people not to show appreciation,,,when pride is dominating in one's life,,ingratitude becomes an object of worship in his life. When they are been helped in one way,,instead of going to show appreciation,,,they will feel too big to bow for that fellow that has helped them. Some doesn't know the danger in there when you don't show gratitude.
DANGERS OF INGRATITUDE
When you have the attitude of ingratitude,,you chase away blessings and stand a chance of losing all good things of life,,,because no one who has helped you before will not want to do such when you don't show gratitude
Another danger is by you attracting a curse to yourself and can also limit your breakthrough
It can make you not to have access in the presence of God
It makes you an enemy of God
I implore us to abstain from all attitudes of ingratitude and starts appreciating God for what He has done including human beings. Don't be like the other nine lepers who never had their healing completed because of their act of imgratitude.
