Cultivate eternal fruits is an art

If our actions are in accordance with the teachings of Christ, we will always bear many fruits. And excellent fruits. "All the rod in me, that does not bear fruit, throws it away, and cleanses all that yields fruit, that it may bear more fruit, you are already clean, because of the word that I have spoken to you: it is in me, and I in you As the staff of itself can not bear fruit, if it is not in the vine, so also you, if you are not in me, I am the vine, you are the bearers, who is in me, and I in him, that day much fruit, because without me you can do nothing "(John 15, 2, 5).

We can say that the fruit of the Spirit is the manifestation of the virtues of God in the life of the Christian, according to the degree of his surrender as a servant to the Lord. It is a work of the Holy Spirit, transmitting to man all the fullness of the Father.

The fruit of the Spirit makes us people more like Christ, since it constitutes expressions of his character in our lives. The fruit also produces sanctification as it purifies us by the Word.

Note that the term fruit is not found in the plural, bearing the interpretation that it is only one, subdivided into nine virtues or attributes. Having in love its origin, that is the main virtue of the fruit of the Spirit, being the other natural consequences of its constant practice. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance" (Galatians 5:22).

Love is the main virtue, simply because God is love. "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God, and whoever loves is born of God and knows God, whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love" (1 John 4.7,8).

And how to practice that love?

As well as the great heroes of faith, meditate on the Word of God. It is the right path to success in the life of the Christian. "Let not the book of this law depart from your mouth, but meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it, for then you will make your way prosperous, and you will be successful" (Joshua 1.8).

When we meditate on the Word and practice it, we are led to have a balance in our attitudes. This, however, seems to be the biggest challenge: to practice what we read and learn.

It is necessary to overcome the stage of mere listener and reader of the word and practice daily in all situations. In the council of Santiago, "Be obedient to the word, and not only listeners, deceiving you with false discourses, because if someone is a listener of the word, and not a believer, he is similar to the man who looks in the mirror at his natural face" (Santiago) 1.22.23).

It is necessary to constantly walk towards a higher level of applicability of the divine precepts and abandon the commandments of this world.

Let the Holy Spirit guide your steps and do not be surprised by the wonders that happen in your life. Through the love that springs in you, you will be able to discern all things through your individual experience with God.
