Praying in the Spirit is you pray the will of God. When I am not sure what the will of God is in any situation, I simply pray in tongues and allow time to unfold the mystery of His will.

The will of God for your life is securely imbedded in your prayer language. When you pray in tongues, you go past reasoning, arguments of the mind, and spiritual roadblocks. Praying in tongues elevates you to the fast track. So while others are standing in line arguing out their petitions, you have gained easy access.

When you pray in tongues, you pray selflessly and tap into the unlimited resources of God.As you pray in tongues, you become an instrument and tool in the hands of the Holy Ghost. When you pray in tongues, you place yourself in a position where the Holy Ghost can use you to pray for continents, cities, communities, and churches.

You may be praying for a pregnant woman in crisis, a flying aircraft, a captain at the mercies of the elements of the sea, someone wrongfully accused in court, or someone in imminent danger. Our scope of influence when we pray in the Holy Ghost is limitless. Prayers offered in tongues travel faster than the speed of light and accomplish much.

You may ask, "How do I speak in another tongue? What do I do to begin this walk in the Spirit?" Here are some scriptures to help:And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues (Mark 16:17 NKJV).

According to this Scripture, tongues are one of the signs that follow the believer. It is not to be rejected but to be embraced. It is a God-given tool that will help you on your Christian journey.

The laying on of hands is one way to receive the gifts of the Holy Ghost. They also are received by impartation or simply by asking God for them. A good example of the latter is the story of a young minister who trained in my church. She was brought up a staunch Catholic but later gave her life to Christ.

At seventeen years old, she joined my church and was concerned about speaking in tongues. She felt it was silly and although she embraced most of the teachings, she could not accept the concept of speaking in tongues.

In all-night prayer meetings, which are a way of life for most of our churches in Africa, she would get frustrated because she covered the prayer topics in less than ten minutes.

She did not enjoy praying all night, though she wanted to. However, she observed that those who prayed in tongues could go on for hours. In her frustration, she went into her prayer closet and asked God to give her the gift of the Spirit, if it was really from Him and of Him. Days turned into weeks, and nothing happened. Then one day, as she was praying at home, she began to speak in tongues.

It was so exhilarating that she could not stop. To keep her Catholic parents, who thought it was madness to speak in tongues, from noticing this gift, she ran into the bathroom and stayed there as long as she could, speaking in tongues. If her parents had heard her, a trip to the psychiatrist would have been inevitable.

Since then, more than sixteen years have passed, and she has grown into one of the strongest prayer warriors I know. She als walks in a powerful gift of praise and worship.
