Is.55:10-11

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater .
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Message

God's word is anything God speaks. It could be directly, through prophets, men of God or the scriptures. There's power in the word of God and as stated in verse 11 of our text, no word spoken by God can return to Him void. In the beginning, the word was the agent of creation, the source of God's message to people, etc. As the word of God accomplished all it was sent for, there is therefore a union between the power of God and His word. The word of God is always valid, binding and never empty; showing that the power and the effect can never be cancelled. Though the Psalmist says that the word of God stands firm or established in the Heavens (Ps. 119:89) yet it's dynamic, never static and full of power and accomplishments.

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.

The manifestation of the power in God's word is seen all through the scriptures. The word of God is indeed powerful for it is God himself. Why not receive the word and its power and live? It is spirit and life to all who receive it.

Meditation: Ps. 33:6

By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
