Ephesians 2: 8-9
Wishing, buying, paying, possessing, is the logical way to obtain a good. In the same way, many people who acknowledge being lost for having disobeyed God, think that they must do something to earn their salvation and escape judgment and death. Others believe that with a sincere prayer they will be able to obtain it. There are also those who consider it convenient to make a vow, promise to change their lives or improve their behavior with good deeds or by conforming to certain religious rules to obtain God's salvation. All this is useless, because salvation is not bought, it is a gift, therefore it is free. "The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus" (Romans 6:23).
No one can approach God by his own means. God is too big to sell salvation, and man is too small to be able to acquire it with his efforts or personal merits.
God does not sell anything, but the salvation of men cost him dearly. He gave his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so that we can have forgiveness, peace, joy. He paid for our liberation with his own life. "You were rescued from your vain way of life, which you received from your fathers, not with corruptible things, like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ ... by which you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and he has given him glory, so that your faith and hope may be in God "(1 Peter 1: 18-19, 21). The Lord Jesus paid that price by taking upon himself the full weight of our sins. God gives that salvation freely, and forgives everyone who goes to him empty-handed, just as he is, to receive it.
