God Puts a High Price Tag on “Our Words”

Mat 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

So many don’t like to hear or read a teaching like this. Even the parts of the Bible we ignore remain true. The best thing is to learn a balance from the whole council of scripture.

Definition of idle in the original language according to Strongs

ἀργός
argos
ar-gos'
From G1 (as a negative particle) and G2041; inactive, that is, unemployed; (by implication) lazy, useless: - barren, idle, slow.

In our day, much of what we say is idle. We have to train ourselves to use our tongue to edify and bless others. We discipline ourselves by the Power of God’s Word, stored in our hearts, through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit as he regenerates our entire person.

THE PERFECT MAN

Jas 3:2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Eph 5:4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

NO FILTHY, FOOLISH TALK OR JESTING! Wow!

People carry around scars all of their life because a parent spoke idle, mean, tearing down words to their kids. Even now, many years later those words cause an inner struggle to that same person after adulthood. We need to be careful what we say and how we say it. This is one of the best reasons to feed our minds and spirit with God’s Word. If God’s Word is the most abundant thing in our heart, our mouth will only speak life and edification. We can build up one another instead of tearing people down. This power is in our tongue. Life or death!

Speak Life!

Luk 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

1Pe 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Pro 18:20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Pro 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

When I was a child, every night my mom would come and tuck each of us in the bed. Every night she would declare this blessing over us! We should do similar things to our children, family and friends. Even people in passing can be blessed or cursed with our tongue.

MY MOM SPOKE THIS EVERY DAY

Num 6:24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

Num 6:25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

Num 6:26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

Thank you for your time!
Be blessed and be a blessing!

Good idea! I like the proverb, “Even a Foolish man is deemed wise, if he opens not his mouth.
