Encounter with the Divine part 13 (Preparation)

Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his way.

There are things that attract an encounter with Christ and there are things that repel such an encounter, We have a responsibility and a part in being ready for such an encounter. I have also witnessed where God, in His great mercy, just shows up in my life when I deserve it the least. We can only qualify for such an encounter through Jesus, but we have a part in setting our desires and showing earnest by doing what the Word says. We are also the ones that express our desires (prayer) for such a meeting.

What attracts God?
  • Faith
Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith comes combined with a practice of diligence in seeking Him. Faith always has action. We prove our faith by diligence in seeking God.

Psa 27:8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

We are responsible for setting our hearts towards God. We come with a resolve to meet with Him and to not back down until such a meeting occurs. How the meeting transpires is up to God, but an offering of faith, that produces diligence is up to us. If you don’t have such a faith, repentance, confession of sin, and a request for a heart of faith is in order.

Psalms 27 is a great read on the preparation of the heart.

We have a responsibility to offer God faith.

If we look at Jesus, many times He would say, “According to your faith”.

Mat 9:28 And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.
Mat 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

We all know that God can do anything. But does He want to heal us? Is it His Will?

This thought process produces “double mindedness”

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We have a responsibility to study God’s Word and to build up our own faith. God has provided every tool necessary for us, but we must use the tools!

Jud 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Tools to build up our faith.

We need to know more than if God can! Most everyone believes He can! But will He? Does He want to? As long as we have this question, it is difficult to make a solid faith request.

I believe that it is always God’s will and desire to heal.
I believe it is, and always has been God’s to desire for close, intimate encounters with His children

I spent the past 12 days showing from the scriptures why I believe this.

In the Old Testament we can see God had the habit of healing His people. He had the habit of showing Himself to His chosen.

When Jesus came on the scene, He showed us the exact representation of God. The earthly ministry of Jesus shows us the character of God. Not just written Words, but the Living Word.

We see from the life and the practice of Jesus that He never turned away a person who approached Him in faith. Some places He healed them all. Some places He did only a few healings because of their unbelief.

Having a unbelieving or hardened heart is a great negative and a huge sin. The good news is this can be repented of and the heart can be softened by God.

I was in Brooklyn New York about 7 years ago. To tell you the truth, for a long time now, I pretty much have a communion with God around the clock. It is like the phone is never hung up. There is communication between His Spirit and mine. This is an act of His Mercy and through the blood of Jesus. There is nothing unique about me! It is all God! I requested from God a heart that is undivided. So one evening in Brooklyn, I was getting ready to go to bed. I was not specifically praying, but I am in constant desire to hear from and encounter God. I was drinking a Jamaican tea made from flowers called Sorrel. The spelling might be wrong. Anyway God took me to Mark 1:40. I didn’t open my Bible, but Je began to speak to me about this leper.

This leper had the same question we all have.

He knew Jesus could heal him.

Mar 1:40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

If it is Your will, You could make me clean! If You wanted to You could.

He had the faith that Jesus could, but He did not have the faith that Jesus would or wanted to.

This is like so many of us!
We believe in the God Who Created the Heavens and the Earth by merely speaking a Word. Of course He can.
This leper at least knew He had an encounter with the Divine. He had a revelation that Jesus was the Anointed One, a miracle worker.

The next verse should seal this though in our minds once and for all. This verse after the leper made his statement or observation, “If you want to, you could make me clean”. Does God want to heal you? Does God want you to see Him?

The God/man Jesus was standing in front of this leper face to face. This proves God’s desire to be seen by mankind.

The next verse that shows the response of Jesus to this leper’s “If You will”.

Mar 1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
Mar 1:42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

If you are sick, it is God’s will for you to be whole

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Mat 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
Mat 8:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

It is up to us to get ready for the meeting with the Divine.
Faith believing God exists and that He is a rewarded of them that diligently seek Him.

This is the end of this installment of “A Divine Encounter”
Blessings!

why dont people comment? why dont i comment. im not sure. i read your posts but then have nothing to say. should i say something, do i agree, disagree, have a question, i dont know. or is it like a sermon in church where we just listion meditate on it and then nothing (maybe some say amen) it to me just seems wrong that no one says anything. things that make you go hmmm. or is it just me being uncomfortable with the sound of silence where i want someone to say something, anthing

Quite a few thoughts there my friend! Most people have a response on a photography post. Steemit has become so automatic with Curation trails, you could receive 300 upvotes and no one read your content. Some upvote because they like you! The Bible part of my blog comes out of real experience, much prayer and study. Stuff I heard from the Lord! Even many preachers are preaching from the mind and not from revelation or something they live. The Apostle Paul said he came, not with inticing words, but with demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s Power. Most don’t have this sort of walk with the Lord, even if it is available to all of His children. Mostly the religious will come around and have something contrary to say. My posts on this series came from an extreme hunger to have more than going to church and hearing a message. It came from truly wanting to know God, not just know about Him. The most wealthy person is the one that knows God. Rich with true riches.
But for me, if some read, comment or not, I am satisfied. Especially if someone is being encouraged or challenged in their walk.
Thanks for sharing this!

Also, I have quite a few that contact me through email or on discord.
