TAPPING INTO GOD'S AWESOME POWER!
Our God is mighty in power and ready to save. All through the bible we see examples of where his mighty power was conveyed through ordinary if not ridiculous means. It was through the rod of moses that he parted the mighty red sea. A stoke and a sling was all it took to bring the mighty, boastful Goliath to the ground. Turning to the new testament, it is on record that on two different occasions Jesus fed the multitudes out of seemingly nothing.
In the book of 2kings 5:14 , we see that it took no More than the common water of Jordan to was away the debilitating disease of naaman. These all point to one thing; God specializes in confounding the mighty with simple things .
If we fix our gaze on spectacular events we may never be able to tap into Gods power. That was the initial problem with naaman. While he was looking for some complicated prescriptions, the prophet simply told him to go and wash in Jordan river. What counts is jot what means God chooses to reach us; rather it is our faith in his ability and submission tp his directives that paves the way to divine blessing. Gods chosen path to the miraculous is sometimes spelt RIDICULOUS!
Deviating a little bit from the topic today, i would love to talk about the power of God when it comes to rescuing people out of difficult situations.
WHEN I HEAR THE WORD RESCUE ANOTHER NAME COMES TO MIND—RAHAB.
Rahab lived in a house on the walls of Jericho. Her house was well-known in the city because she was a mere prostitute.
She lived at a time when the world was changing fast. A nation that was perched on the borders of her country, waiting for the right time to invade. This was no ordinary nation you know; it was the people of Israel-God's people.
rachel and the spies
Stories of the God of the Israelites had preceded them in their country, and everyone in their path was terrified. Their almighty God had opened the waters of the Red Sea, and they had walked through it. And how he had provided food and water in the desert for them to feed, and He protected them every step of the way.
The walls of the city were closed against any impending invasion. But two young men-spies from Israel, had snuck across the border and entered into jericho to size up the opposition that they were up against.
Soon the officials in jericho knew that there were two strangers in the city and the search for them began. As they tried to hide, they found themselves at Rahab’s house. She took them in, and she agreed to hide them under one condition. When (not if) the Israelites invaded and took Jericho, she wanted her family spared and not massacred. She recognized that “the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on earth below .”

The commitment was made there, and she helped the young men escape the officials.
Next came the day of battle. And the order was given to destroy everything and everybody in the city of Jericho except Rahab and her little family. The red cord in the window of her house would mark her home.
The city was destroyed the population, and Joshua ordered the two young men who had made the commitment to Rahab to go and get her out of the crumbled city. She left her house with her family and looked into the faces of her rescuers from israel. She made her home among the nation of Israel; their God became her God and she began to love the lord.
The God of Israel, the One who created her, had chosen her specially. The young spies had not come upon her house by accident or coincidence. He knew of the hunger in Rehab’s heart to know Him. She was rescued and redeemed. Her life transformed, and she became part of the family tree of Jesus.
What a great story of rescue, redemption, and transformation!
Thanks for reading!.
