LITTLE DETAILS MATTER

Greetings everyone. Hope you all are having a great time.

I will be talking about what is titled Little details matter.

Yes! They are of course little, insignificant, not considerate enough but they can go as far as making a difference. Things you do to others, no matter how little it seems can go a long way. Just that little care, little smile, a little pat on the back can make one's lips stretch out in a smile.

I remember strolling lazily to class one afternoon, I wasn't in a hurry so, I simply became observant of activities going on around. Just then, my eyes caught a girl throw a bottle of water into the trash and it seems like she didn't even drink the water at all. We are sometimes like that too. We don't care because we can always get water if we want to. I then remembered a young boy that was almost hit by a bus while trying to grab a bottle of water thrown out from a car. Hmm..

My mind wandered and began to think of millions of children out there without the basic necessities of life. Without food, clothing and shelter. Even without the supposed water we take as easy to get. People can go as far to get that water.

Well, you might be wondering what I'm trying to say.. Should I start going into poor villages, forests, camps and start working for the children, providing relief materials? Not at all necessary. Have you ever taken out time to look at your environment and people around? Have you ever taken time to check out the little details seen but trampled upon? I'm not asking you to do the unthinkable and unimaginable. You don't have to take your school fees to get a new phone for someone who had his/her own, lost. You don't have to give your furniture to a family who just had a fire disaster. You don't have to drain all the blood in your body to a patient. It starts from small things everyone fails to pay attention to.

A little girl who had been drenched in the rain sat by close to you and the best you could do was move away scornfully. She kept sneezing but you found it disgusting to offer a simple sorry. Remember that time when one of your friends asked you for assistance in that course that got him/her tensed up, you declined saying it's exam period and I can't afford to spare any time. Did you even bother to see the tear that fell off the face as he/she went away in frustration?

Helping your friends write their names in attendance sheets is not care. Buying snacks for one, so you can eat out of it, is not care. That's Greed. That's is where the issue lies. We are so carried away with the issue of 'MYSELF' forgetting we don't exist alone. If everyone left the whole world for you, you'd be dead, probably the next week. Why not appreciate the people around you? It won't cost you to do that very little thing that will put a smile on one's face. Change your mentality if you think it's just your family, friends and loved ones you should care about.

Jesus admonishes us not to be like the mediocre, hypocrites. He expects more from us. According to 1 John 4:7-8

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

God is love and wants to see us show love because you reflect who He is when you show love. It's not right if you only care about people I'd only you want to show off or be applauded. Give love freely and not expecting anything in return. God is not bothered about how bigger your sacrifice is but how meek is the heart offering it. We should change our attitudes towards things. As Christians, rather than just do things to please people, do them to please God. Do things that will make Him boast of you. God wants us to be like Him. Live with that consciousness.

So friends, just that little care, little smile, little saying of "sorry", well done, is just enough to stop someone from giving up on life. A little help can win a soul, a good character can make one want to serve God. And that encouragement can stop someone from committing suicide. Once again, little details do matter.
