ENGAGEMENT RING...

This is a sign you are taken and no longer available. It is to keep other interested guys off and keep you focused but sometimes, it backfires!

I pressurized my guy to get me an engagement ring when I kept getting more admirers and it sure worked like fire! With my third finger glistering all the time, no one overstepped boundaries and everyone understood I was no longer available but some are not so lucky. Sometimes relationships just don't work out and you both go your separate ways. How will you announce to all the interested guys you've broken up and single again? It's better you keep everyone guessing so when the relationship doesn't go as planned, you are free to allow a better man come closer to you.

I'm not advocating broken courtship please. We are humans and mistakes do happen. You may have picked someone you honestly believed is the one only to find out it's a mistake. Minimizing exposure helps you deal with the hurt better and find a better suitor on time.

I'm not against wearing engagement ring. If it works for you, you are sure both of you are getting married, why not? And if you are not sure or you are still skeptical about your relationship, why not ignore the engagement ring till you are sure this is the man you want to spend the rest of your life with?
