The Cross of Christ is "the supreme test of God's mercy and love for us: Jesus loved us" to the end "; that is, not only until the last moment of his earthly life, but to the extreme limit of love. If in creation, the Father has given us the proof of his immense love by giving us life, in the passion and death of his Son he has given us the proof of trials: he has come to suffer and to die for us. And all for love: this is how great God's mercy! He loves us, forgives us.

Since the essential nature of God is to love, He shows his love by giving it to people who do not deserve it, who are in rebellion against Him. The love of God is not a feeling in love, sentimental or romantic. Rather, it is agape love, the love of self-sacrifice. He demonstrated this sacrificial love, sending his Son to the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, attracting ourselves, forgiving our rebellion against Him, and sending his Holy Spirit to dwell in us and in this way we can love as He loves. He did this even though we did not deserve it. "But God shows his love for us, in that while we are still sinners, Christ died for us".

His love is personal. God knows each of us individually and loves us personally. His love is a very great love that has no beginning or end. It is this experience of the love of God that distinguishes Christianity from all other religions.

In addition to what he has done for us, God loves us in such a way that, if we walk with Him in our daily walk, in our lives, if we ask Him in prayer, He will not stop teaching us in His Word, to warn us, of guide us and give us signals or dreams so that we do not err in everything we undertake. That company of his is the one that shows us each day the love that has us, and this is experienced by each one in his privacy.

The qualities of God's love are infinite, but we could see that the love of God comes from the eternal spiritual essence of the divine nature; it confers qualities that we do not feel by nature, but that we can begin to experience by the approach of God to us.

At the same time, the love of God sees beyond the limits of our heart, sees the result of His work in the eternal dimension and is patient, does not remain in anger, in anger or in revenge. In short, it has its sights set on the spiritual.
