A God Online

To be honest with you, prayer is something that always cost me a lot. Starting to have it as a habit was not easy. I had to fight against myself to do it every day, and sometimes several times a day. However, it was in these attempts at prayer that I gradually discovered an incredible dialogue with who is now my best friend; with a being that is always available and waiting for me to speak to him. In this way, little by little, I started the best conversation of my life.

Prayer, for me, is like a WhatsApp conversation: you connect, you look for the friend you want to talk to and you start writing. With Jesus, you will see that he is always "on line", because he does not want to miss half a second, and he will never stop seeing when you write to him, write to him and how you write him.

The conversation that each one of us has with Jesus is unique, personal and non-transferable. Sure, you can have groups on WhatsApp where He is present, along with other people to pray or have dialogues about something specific; but when you want to speak only you, remember the first thing I told you. God does not speak to us in the same way, because he has created us differently and recognizes that because of our personalities, contexts and history, he must reach us in a different way. To some he will speak to us through long paragraphs, to others with only one phrase and to many only to let him see that he is listening ... According to what our soul most needs in each moment.

And as he will answer us according to what is most convenient for each moment, he will write to us even if we are not asking him, when he considers it necessary. Since he is a God who stays online, he can send us an emoji, which we see reflected in the smile of our friend; or a heart, that we feel beating when we go to the Eucharist. However, let's not forget that he will always be happy to get an answer, because he is a God who is always waiting; watching the conversation in a desperate way, looking if we have written something new, checking if we have changed the profile picture, or if we have updated our status. He wants to be part of these changes and choices and has a lot to say to our ears.

On the other hand, by definition, every conversation requires two parts. However, we must not forget that the conversation between us and God is not a conversation between peers, but a conversation between creator and creature. This means that the creator will always know what is best for you, will know when to shut up, when to bombard you with messages of love and when to start a conversation that you can feel as if it were face to face. Then, you have to be patient about God's response. Although He always reads what we write to Him, only He knows when to send the message, because He knows perfectly when we need to read it.

I want to invite you to value prayer, that big gift that often remains packaged. The fact that God is always there for us, and that we can reach a chapel at any time and find him to speak, is really something wonderful.

The greatness of faith is in believing without seeing, in believing without feeling and in believing without listening. And prayer, in this way, is an act of faith. It consists in believing that God always listens to us, always understands us and always responds to us. As My mother said. "Prayer is the meeting of the thirst of God and the thirst of man", even if it does not happen in the way we expect it, we need enough faith to trust in His faithfulness, in His love for us and in that whenever we want, we will find it online.
