NOTE: When the people of God turn away from their creator, they suffer great consequences.

What does revival mean?
It means that the people of God approach the Lord with a humble heart. Revival is for believers; you can only revive what once had life. As a result of that search for God by his people, there is a spiritual awakening in people who do not know the Lord and an improvement in all levels of life of the population: spiritual, family, social, political and economic.

Read Joel 2: 12-28

The historical-spiritual context of this book by Joel is marked by the spiritual coldness of Judah. They had no interest in the things of God. As a result of this they suffer the consequences: a drought, together with a plague of locusts, scourging the whole earth (Joel 1: 4), the field was affected (1:10), men lost joy (1:12) , they ran out of food (1: 16-17), the animals suffered the consequences (1:18), fires occurred (1:19), streams dried up (1:20). In the manner of a loving discipline, God brought judgment on his people. This is how the prophet Joel knew that the people urgently needed to return to their Creator.

• We have to change:

A) Here the key word is "convert". It implies a change. I can not continue doing the same. If I had bad character now I must change it. Conversion is not only for those who are believers, but also for the children of God who must have a renewed mind (Read Romans 12: 1.2)

B) It says "to me", meaning that God is calling us to come closer to his presence.

C) The change must be "from the heart", not just in words.

D) "With weeping and mourning," the person must feel pain for the most he has done. Many today do not feel pain for their sins, they have a "dirty" conscience of evil.

• The change must be interior:

Joel 2: 13. "rend your heart and not your clothes" ...
Repentance must be internal. It's not just going to the front, it's not just shedding tears. The gospel "is change". Before I was a person and now I am another person. This transformation process must be permanent. There are many people who are hard, who have a heart of stone, instead of one of flesh. They find it hard to humble themselves in front of God. The first step to revival according to 2 Chronicles 7:14 is "humiliation." Many people are proud, they have many problems with the issue of authority. In the church the principle of authority is indispensable for the operation of it.

• We all need to change:

Joel 2: 15-16. From children to the elders they were called to an assembly to fast and repent before God.

• To change you have to repent:

Joel 2: 17. We need to confess our faults. We must repent and if we have caused damage we must repair it, even if it is very difficult.

• God restores all things:

Joel 2: 18-28. When we seek God, He forgives his people (vs. 18), prospers us (vs. 19), defends us (vs. 20), does great things (vs. 21), greenens what was dry (vs. ), it brings back joy (vs. 23), it restores what we lost (vs. 24-25), it exalts us (vs. 26), it shows us that He alone is God (vs. 27) and fills us with His Spirit so that we may live in victory (vs. 28).

If we have separated ourselves from God we must return to his presence, in a humble and repentant attitude. Pray for each brother to take care of his personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
