The Lord's Prayer: The Right Way To Pray

Prayer must be taught and learnt. Praying right is a major determinant of the answer you get because to pray amiss is to get nothing. The foregoing must have prompted the apostles to desire how to pray right. The Lord's prayer was Jesus' responses to their desire. In today's study, we shall consider a few lessons from this prayer pattern.

Matthew [6:9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. [6:10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. [6:11] Give us this day our daily bread. [6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. [6:13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Begin your prayers with praise, worship and thanksgiving especially addressed to God.
Put God's kingdom and His will first before self. Pray for the fulfillment of God's will in your life, family, church, community, state and nation.
Be specific in your request. Ask for what you need in line with His promise. To do otherwise is to ask amiss, and asking amiss results in getting nothing.
Confess your sins to God and ask for His forgiveness. Also pray for grace to forgive all hurts and let go of bitterness. This is important because not forgiving others can hinder your prayers from being answered.
Ask God for protection from all satanic onslaught and preservation from evil. Demand for grace to resist temptation, stand firm and live wholly for Christ.

Don't be slothful in the place of prayer. God is a prayer answering God. He answers all who pray aright. Make up your mind today to rise in prayers with boldness and full assurance.

1 John 5:14; And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.
