INTRODUCTION :

The top is God's intention for any child of God who lives in relationship with Him. God has never created anyone to be a failure or mediocre. God still says "abide in me", and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit for itself, except it abide in the vine, no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine and ye are the branches. He that abideth in me and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me, ye can do nothing" (John 15:4,5).

Since God is not a failure, rather a successful business man and bearing much fruits, no less is He expecting from His very own who are His children. This post will therefore discuss few principles for any child of God to reach the peak of his career option in a Godly way.

WHAT IS CARREER?

Career is an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress. It is a profession; employment, line of work or a walk of life.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines career;

as a field for or pursuit of consecutive progressive achievement especially in public, professional, or business life; a profession for which one trains and which is undertaken as a permanent calling. This is different from short period jobs which has no promise of progress, promotion or advancement.

A career is often composed of the jobs held, titles earned and work accomplished over a long period of time, rather than just referring to one position. While employees in some cultures and economies stay with one job during their career, there is an increasing trend of employees changing jobs more frequently.

THE PRINCIPLES OF REACHING THE TOP OF ANY CAREER:

1. Self-Awareness: Self insight is the key to empowered career planning and decisions about our work and life. We can improve our sense of direction and purpose through self-review. You will assess major achievements, skills, values, goals and develop personal mission statement. Aligning these with your present work, career direction, performance review and learning goals creates energy, excitement and success. Know yourself, believe in yourself and follow the heart. Find a career focus and do a SWOT Analysis of your life at any point in time.

2. SUBMISSION, HUMILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY :

Ecclesiastes 12:13 - Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Success oftentimes puffs up and therefore pride is bound to set in. We should note that where there is pride, a fall will certainly set in. There is therefore a necessity for submission and humility at all points in a person's life. Be ready to have someone you could submit to and be accountable. Know also that at the end of it all, you shall be accountable to God.

Ecclesiastes11:9 - Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

3.Pursue Excellence through diligence :

Proverbs 22:29 - Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

If you must reach the top, there must be a conscious plan, desire and hunger for excellence. Excellence is never obtained on the surface. It is an attribute obtained through hard work, diligence and focus. It takes determination to be above all others and not to be in the crowd. Excellence stands out and excellent spirit is from God. Seek and pursue it.

Excellence is not perfection. Be sure of making mistakes but learn from them and avoid same mistakes subsequently. Determine not to give up no matter what.

God meant every bit of His statement which He said in Deutronomy 28:13 - "And the Lord shall make thee the Head and not the tall; and thou shall be above only, and thou shall not be beneath, if thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them", the Lord shall watch over His words to perform it. And whatever you do shall prosper.
