ACTIVATE THE POWER IN YOU
In the Old Testament, the Bible records how the power of God came mightily upon certain men and women, causing them to do supernatural things. Sampson, for example, killed a lion with his bare hands and kiled one thousand men with the jawbone of an ass. He also carried the gates of a city on his shoulders up a hill!
When you study the life of Sampson thoroughly, you'd know the role he played in activating the anointing of God's Spirit that was upon him. After he was betrayed by Delilah and his hair was shaved, the bible says he ''...awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go go out as at other times before, and shake myself... (Judges 16:20) He knew exactly what to do to activate the power of God - it happened whenever he shook himself!
1 John 2:27 says, But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
The anointing - the power of God - is in your spirit, but that power would not work just because it is there. This is why you need to know the things that will stir up the anointing in your life. One sure way to activate the power of God that is in you is by speaking in other tongues.
The Bible says, "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself" (1 Corinthians 1:14). In other words, he 'charges' himself up like a battery! When that anointing is triggered, anything is possible.
Don't be content to live an ordinary life; trigger the anointing everyday!
I am anointed and full of the power of the Holy Ghost. I live a supernatural life every day, as I stir up the gift of God which is in me. I cannot be defeated or destroyed, for the anointing in me has made me more than a man, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
In Act 1:8, the Bible says
This means we need the Holy Spirit in us in order to posses the power and we need to activate and put the power to work by witnessing God to others.

Always use the strength that God has given to you to do His work... For a time will come that you may love to do His work but you wouldn't have that opportunity. Thanks for sharing.
There is no power within you to activate. The Spirit won't fall on us like it did at Pentecost. You're filled with the Holy Spirit when you become a Christian. The more you grow as a Christian the more it will guide you.
Hi Barncat, please do let me know if you have any biblical evidence for saying "The Spirit won't fall on us like it did at Pentecost." I do believe it's important to be careful we're not dealing with deceptive entities though as some signs are definitely coming from spirits and not God. Being born again or becoming a Christian does not make us immune from deception or being unduly influenced. When we become born again, we don't automatically have the knowledge of Christ, nor his discerment.
I believe a spirit of religion influences almost all Christians in ways it didn't when the person wasn't a Christian -- even if the Christian's isn't "possessed" by it or aware of it. We have our own flesh as well as spiritual deception to contend with.
For example, a spirit of religion makes us unteachable, undiscerning and prone to think in black-or-white (without evidence). It convinces us we know the will of God with 100% confidence, even when we might not know it. This spirit makes people think they're better than others in some ways.
Being continually guided by the Holy Spirit is the only way to become more aware/discerning and also overcome.
