TRUE WORSHIP

Today if you observe carefully you will see how some people fake the true worship of God all in the name of being religious. The reason for this happening is not impractical. Instead of worshipping in the spirit they worshiped in the flesh. For this same reason Jesus said to Nicodemus in John 3 :5

‘Verily, verily, lsay unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”

This also was the message of Jesus Christ to the religiously inclined people of his time, as well as the early apostles messages.

They downplayed the paraphernalia of religious ways that did not entail spiritualism. They worshipped in spirit and in Truth. How can this earthly religiosity in our churches today be put to an end? The solution is simple: we have to go back to the foundation of Christian teaching as outlined in Acts 2:37-38:

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of lesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

It is sad that people have forgotten or don't know that
the foundation of the faith that saves is based on genuine repentance. Covering up our past deeds without genuine repentance is a total waste of time. The Holy Spirit emphasises this truth through Apostle John in 1 John 1:6-9:

”If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we sin not, we only deceive ourselves, and in us there is no truth. If we genuinely confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all form of unrighteousness.”

The problem with many so-called 21st century Christians is that they no longer acknowledge sin to be sin; they understate sin and regard it as inevitable ”mistakes", therefore, they neither confess it as sin nor make efforts to live above it with the power of the Holy spirit.

This explains the carnal worship and ”plenty scampishness” in the name of Pentecostalism that we see in some churches today.
Galatians 5:19-21

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

These are the things we must not involve ourselves with if we want to worship God in truth and in spirit. You must be born of the Spirit and must live a life of change for acceptable worship in God's sight.

John 4:24

24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
