STEEMCHURCH ° Who was Saint Lucas

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Very few know who is San Lucas, but he was a great teacher of the Bible and thanks to the Bible could be more accurate, in his writings.

Again, I thank @sirknight, for this beautiful community @steemchurch, blessings for all brothers.

Saint lucas

Lucas was a very important man for Christianity because he left us a detailed biography of Jesus and the first church.

  • Author of Lucasy Facts

  • He was a doctor by profession

  • Tradition says it was from Antioquia

  • It is said that Lucas was Greek

  • He was the only one of the evangelists whohe was not Jewish

  • He is believed to have died at 84

  • He was a disciple of the apostle Paul

Luke's ministry, his profession as a physician, his knowledge of Greek culture, and his friendship with several of the apostles, especially Paul, contributed to Luke writing perhaps the most complete of the four gospels. His legacy as one of the most integral historians of antiquity has helped to reaffirm the faith in the validity of the Bible for many people.

Lucas the doctor:

The way a person interprets things around them is largely determined by their education, education, culture, up to the time they lived. Luke's medical training is noted when describing or "diagnosing" the condition of the sick Jesus healed. For example, when referring to a person with fever, the authors of the other gospels used the singular form of this word in Greek that is pure. Lucas always used puretoi or puretois, which is the plural form of fever, which was used by the doctors of his time.

Also about the difference comes out when describing the fever of Peter's mother-in-law, the bleeding woman, the leper and the paralytic of chapter 5. Luke's language is always more analytical and precise. Of course this does not detract from the other gospels, but it does help us understand the next aspect of Luke.

Lucas the historian:

In his book The Case of Christ, author Lee Strobel describes Lucas as a first-century journalist. He says this because Luke's intention to investigate the life of Jesus so that others could know the truth about him is well known. In Luke 1: 3 he says that he "diligently investigated all things from their origin" to write them in order. Together, the books of Luke and Acts make up a quarter of the new testament.

To better explain the integrity of Luke's writings, Strobel interviewed John McRay, an expert on archeology in the New Testament, who explains that archeology continually confirms the details in Luke and Acts, and that even, sometimes when historians have said that Lucas had made a mistake in his report, archeology has proven no. For example, Strobel cites that Lucas referred to 32 countries, 54 cities and 9 islands without making a mistake when referring to the geography, leaders, cultures, or events of these places. If Lucas was concerned with small and secondary details, says Strobel, he certainly was going to make sure he did not make a mistake by reporting on the most significant event of Christianity, the death and resurrection of Christ.

To accomplish this, Luke conducted extensive interviews with people who witnessed the miracles and teachings of Jesus.

Luke the missionary:

Luke accompanied Paul on several of his missionary trips. Normally Luke writes in the third person but is included in the story when it is part of a journey, as in Acts 16:10 when a group goes to Macedonia after a vision that Paul had. He does the same in chapter 20 when they go to Troas. In Acts 27 and 28 we see it in Rome and Malta. Luke was a faithful disciple of Paul and was with him during his last imprisonment according to Timothy 4: 9-11: "Try to come soon to see me, because Demas has forsaken me, loving this world, and gone to Thessalonica. He went to Galatia, and Tito to Dalmatia, only Luke is with me ... "

In the final salutations of Colossians, Paul says in verse 14 that Luke, the "beloved physician," sent greetings. It would not be out of place to say that Lucas perhaps used his profession to help sick people during his travels.
