Obedience

is doing what we are asked to do, without variation, without delay and without complaint. When one of these elements is absent, we can no longer speak of obedience but of disobedience. Half obedience is actually disobedience. Obedience with delay is also disobedience and obedience with an incorrect attitude in the heart, is equally disobedience. What happens if we disobey God? Well, if we do not obey God in regard to salvation in Jesus Christ, we will have to stick to the consequence of being eternally separated from God in hell. If in spite of being children of God for having accepted Christ we disobey God, very painful consequences will arise. We will not lose our salvation but we will lose our awards and we will make our life miserable while we live in this world. In our last Bible study on the subject of obedience, we saw that disobedience brings discouragement. Discouragement is like a cell of maximum security that keeps us captive, neutralizing our energy and preventing us from being useful for God. Elijah, the prophet, was once discouraged because of disobedience and in that prison of discouragement he asked God to take his life. Jonah, another prophet, obeyed God after having previously disobeyed, but he did not with the right attitude in the heart, which is actually disobedience, as a result of this, in the shade of a withered gourd he fainted and wished the death, saying: Death would be better for me than life. So, it is my brother and friend, not always the discouragement is a consequence of disobedience, but much of the discouragement is a direct consequence of it. In today's Bible study, we will see another consequence of disobedience.

When we submit our will to God in obedience and act according to what he has established in his Word, the Bible, we have at our disposal a series of attractive advantages. But when we let our own will govern us and we reveal ourselves to God's will in disobedience, not only do we lose the attractive advantages, but we also receive the consequences of disobedience. One consequence is discouragement, which we discussed in our last study. Another consequence is the disease. I am not saying that if we obey God we will never get sick, nor am I saying that every disease is the product of disobedience to God, but listen carefully to what God says in his Word, in Exodus 15:26: "And he said: If you will Be attentive to the voice of Jehovah your God, and do what is right in his sight, and give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, no disease from which I sent to the Egyptians, I will send you; for I am the LORD your healer "We see in this text that there is a direct link between disobedience to God and sickness. Again, I insist, that it is not correct to affirm that every disease is a product of disobedience to God, but neither is it correct to affirm that no disease is the product of disobedience to God. For sample, a button says the saying. Think of AIDS, the disease of the century. Certainly, some patients with this disease are innocent victims, I would say, of the illness of their parents or of having received a blood transfusion contaminated by the disease, but who can deny that the vast majority of those affected with this disease are people who they gave free rein to their sexual instincts, or people who found in drugs an outlet for their frustrations, or people who thought that homosexuality or lesbianism is fun and inoffensive, all this in clear and open disobedience to what God has established in His Word, of course. In a futile attempt to control evil, the governments of the nations of the world have undertaken the task of saturate the world with condoms or condoms, vainly thinking that these devices are the solution to this terrible evil. The statistics however prove otherwise. The evil will increase in geometric progression. Some studies have shown that the failure of condoms to prevent the spread of the virus that causes AIDS is as high as 1 in 6. However, people have been led to believe that the way to control a moral problem is by means of a device. This is not the way of God my brothers and friends. The rapid spread of AIDS has its explanation in promiscuity, not in the lack of using condoms. A homosexual infected with the virus that causes AIDS admitted that he alone will have infected no more than a hundred young people with the terrible evil. Our heart is rid of pain for all who are carriers of the virus that produces AIDS, but we can not close our eyes to the irrefutable fact that disobedience to God is the factor that contributes most to the spread of any sexually transmitted disease. God severely condemns in his word the practice of sex outside of marriage. Proverbs 6: 32-33 says: "But he who commits adultery is lacking in understanding; Corrupts his soul who does it. Wounds and shame will find, And his insult will never be erased "Who can say that sex outside marriage does not cause diseases, when God has said in this text and in many others that the adulterer corrupts or destroys his own soul, that the adulterer he will find wounds, that the adulterer will find shame, that the affront of the adulterer will never be erased. Oh my brothers, how zealous we must be of our moral purity, of the sanctity of marriage. Disobedience to God in the intimate life and in any other area can perfectly bring a terrible disease to the disobedient. The apostle Paul was aware of this reality and in his first letter to the Corinthians, instructing about the Lord's Supper said the following, 1 Corinthians 11: 28-30: "Therefore, let each one prove himself, and eat like this. of bread, and drink from the cup. Because whoever eats and drink unworthily, without discerning the body of the Lord, judgment eats and drinks for himself. Therefore, there are many sick and weakened among you, and many sleep. "The disobedience to God to participate in the Lord's Supper despite being aware of having offended or sin against God by not discerning the Lord's body, produces three things according to this passage: First: Illness. Second: weakening or discouragement and Third: death. Oh what fear we should have of disobeying God. But in the midst of all this pain, let me finish with a note of hope. The blood of Jesus Christ can erase all kinds of sin. Yes, even that vile and low sin that produces contagion of sexual diseases. After warning the Corinthians about the sins that prevent a person from entering the kingdom of heaven, many of them sexual sins, Paul said the following words to the Corinthian believers. 1 Corinthians 6:11: "And these were some; but you have been washed, you have been sanctified, you have been justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God "It does not matter to what extent you have disobeyed God until this moment. There is still opportunity for you. Why do not you recognize your need for salvation, your need for moral purity and in an act of faith accept Christ as your personal Savior. Few are those who admit it, but the only way to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases is to obey God in terms of sanctity, the decency of marriage, moral purity, God has designed that sex practice a man with a woman in the intimacy of marriage for life. God's formula will sound antiquated to some, but it is the only one that works.
