And leaving Nazareth, Jesus came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the see, in the regions of Zebulum and Naphali. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The land of Zebulum and the land of Naphali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the regions and the shadow of death, light has dawned (Matthew 4: 13 -16)

Until Jesus of Nazareth began His ministry the whole world was in total darkness, especially the nations and peoples who were not Jews. Scripture described them as sitting in the regions of darkness and in the shadow of death. This is heavy but it's true.
Darkness as used in the Bible is synonymous with a condition of man devoid of the truth and the true knowledge of the eternal God, the Creator . Death is synonymous with a condition of man devoid of eternal life of God. Between these two conditions, what rules and prevail over man is lies and deception of the Devil and his demons. Unfortunately, people have no way of knowing the truth that brings the light of God and eternal life. Thus, the Bible describes such people as dwelling in the darkness and the shadow of death. And it is just a matter of time and the reality replaces the shadow.
When Jesus began His ministry, He sought to bring the truth of God that brings the light and life of God to all people and especially to the regions of the world in Satan's darkness and shadow of death. For the testimony is, the Truth and Grace of God came to mankind by Jesus Christ (John 1: 17). He Himself testified, "I am the light of the world, he who follow Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8: 12). The problem with most people today is the same as the problem of the people in Zebulum and Naphali in Jesus days. They were in darkness and shadow of death, and when the true light and eternal life came to them in the Person of Jesus, they refused to come into the light or follow the light to come out of the darkness and death. They love the darkness and their death rather than the true light that brings the life of God (John 3: 19 -20).

My question is: Are you still living in the darkness of this world and the shadow of death, even though the light of Christ has dawned on you?
My fears is if you don't leave that region to the light of God's son, who would translate you from that darkness into His light, very soon that shadow you are in would give way to the reality!
So come to the truth and the light of Jesus and you would have the light of life. It means that light will bring you into life, which is true, eternal and divine, This is a better reality.
May the light of Christ shine on you today in Jesus name. Amen
