And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus to register all the Roman world for taxes. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David, called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was pregnant. So it was that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered (Luke 2: 1, 3 -6)

I love the Open English Bible version of Romans 8: 28.- "But we do know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him, for those who have received the call in accordance with His purpose" (OEB). This scripture from Apostle Paul explains what is really behind life events, circumstances and history. And this is a caution to us not to take things at their face value! Because behind the scenes of things, of life circumstances and of situations are powers and forces which are work.
Scriptures have foretold that the Messiah would be the Seed of David (Isaiah 11: 1), would be conceived by a Virgin (Isaiah 7: 14) and would be born in Bethlehem Ephratah (Micah 5: 2 -3). Mary and Joseph became the recipient of this divine word. But it never crossed their mind to go to Bethlehem for the birth of the Child. This is understandable because the Angel who brought the message to them left out the birth place of the Child. And it was possible Joseph and Mary didn't know about it since they didn't have access to the scriptures as we have the Bibles today. It was reserved for the priests, scribes and the prominent people. The common people only get to hear the scriptures read to them in the synagogues and the Temple on Sabbaths. So God went behind the scenes of the Emperor Augustus taxation plan and brought about the fulfilment of scriptures and His purpose. All things indeed work out for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to His purpose.

What I want to point out for a lesson for us is

• first, what is behind the scenes of our life's events, situations and circumstances, which is moving you and I to do what we are doing and living the way you and I are living. It's of great importance, we cross check them, as to what they are and where they come from.
  -second, that we come to understand that every thing in our life is fulfilling scriptures, for good or for bad. It was not only for Jesus, Mary or Joseph, it is also for us. Our lives are on scriptures. So dear brother, dear sister, check what scriptures or prophecies your life is fulfilling. For example, if you are homosexual, it's not sexual modernity or advancement, but a scriptural prophecy for the end time. If you are a lover of pleasure, a lover of money or lover of material things that you can destroy human life to get the. Then know that it's not being smart or you enjoying your life. You are actually fulfilling end time scriptures. And the power that is moving you to do these things are never of God.
  So as we learn the lessons of Christmas, remember what is behind the scenes of world events and what is actually being fulfilled.

May you receive understanding of these things so that you may not be swept away, but to live your life in the love of God, knowing that the Lord would cause all things, good and bad, to work together for your good in all situations and circumstances.
And May all things work indeed for you this way in the coming year in Jesus name. Amen
