The Weekly Steemit Health Challenge: Bavaroise of watermelon

in #steemchurch6 years ago (edited)

Happy day my healthy community, this is another great initiative of @healtsquared my entry: Bavaroise of watermelon.

The dessert I bring today is fresh and healthy. You do not need an oven, it does not contain sugar and it is very easy to make. It is made for the Season Color and Taste Challenge that organizes every month Original Desserts. This month had to choose between lettuce and watermelon, and although I make many salads always, I wanted to make a different dessert, so I decided on the watermelon.
The term Bavaroise or Bavarian Cream is used to refer to a cold dessert made with gelatin, English cream and whipped cream (milk cream). Its origin is Swiss, but France has also adopted it. They are usually made of different fruits or chocolate.
Watermelon is one of the fruits of the summer season. Being rich in lycopene, the carotene that gives it the red color, makes it beneficial to prevent many types of cancer and to reduce cholesterol.

350 ml of watermelon juice (3 parts of watermelon and 1 of water)

1 sachet of unflavored gelatin powder (or 6 sheets of gelatin)

2 slices of watermelon

200 ml of cream (milk cream) to assemble

100 ml evaporated milk

80 gr of the sweetener of your choice

3-4 fresh mint leaves

First cut the watermelon and beat with a little water, just enough to crush well in the blender. We mix 350 ml of the juice with the sweetener. In a pot we heat half of the watermelon juice. When it is about to boil, remove from the heat and add the unflavored gelatine envelope and mix well with the help of the manual rods. We add the remaining juice and reserve.

We mount the cream (cream of milk), important that both the cream (cream of milk) as the bowl and the rods are very cold so that mount well. When it is firm, add the evaporated milk and beat a little more. Add the juice with the gelatin that we had reserved and mix with the rods until integrating.

Wash and cut the mint leaves and add to the mixture. We distribute in the molds and refrigerate at least 6 hours. I left it all night.

I have prepared 5 units in silicone molds for muffins and 2 in individual cups. They are demold very easily.
We unmold, serve with pieces of fresh watermelon that I cut in circles with the help of a cookie cutter, and mint leaves or mint to decorate. And ready!
