What does your way of life say about you?

We live in a world were many do not care about the way they live their lives. To make matters worst, they do not care about the opinions of others. It is really sad to see a world filled with so much injustices. Even if you do not believe a creator exists, is it right to live a wayward lifestyle? Morality is something uncommon in many places today. But who does your lifestyle actually affect? Who gains when you live a responsible lifestyle? These are just some of the questions that will be answered in this week's discussion session.

Someone with good manners can easily be identified in a crowd filled with people from various ethnic backgrounds, this is because a person like that will always standout. Living in a country with economic problems, you see employees stealing from their employers. When they interact with friends you hear something like, "he doesn't even pay me well". They act as if they are trying to even things with a stingy employer, even when this is not true. That is why when a company finds a sincere employee, it's very difficult to let him off. Even when the employer is reducing the number of staffs he has. This answers the first question, our lifestyle actually affects us as individuals, either for good or bad.

If your lifestyle is affecting you badly, there is still time to change. Such bad thoughts should be cleared, especially the thoughts of stealing. When thefts are analysed most times, you find out that most of the persons involved are not really extremely poor. They are just people who want to live above their paychecks. Live is greater than just a moment. Before involving in an activity, one should ask himself (or herself), what kind of name will I be making? A good or a bad one? Examining our minds from time to time actually helps. It helps adjust your thinking.

Let's see what one of the wisest books ever written says about this, Proverbs 4: 18,

But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day. - ASV

This shows our actions reflects on others, when we do good it is seen by others. Even deeds that are not noticed by men, are noticed by the creator. Good qualities are what attracts friends.

Proverbs 11: 11 adds,

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

This further shows the results of a person's actions. This proverbs means that a good person's speech influences people and make them glad. But that of a person that involves himself in wicked activities brings down the the gladness in the hearts of many.

What ever you do in life has it's own rewards. Many neglect this, and regret later on. When people know you for the good that you do, there's this good feeling that often goes with it.

I wrote an article some time ago, it was about humility. You can check it out Why Humble People Are Treasured. There I talked about why humility is so valued in the world today. Something that is rare is usually very valued though.

What is your opinion on this topic? Do you think your lifestyle matters to others?

People around us are affected everyday by our actions and decisions. The way we live our life affects people directly or indirectly , sometimes we are role models to people without having a clue and when we begin to follow the wrong path these people tend to get misguided.

Yeah, true. There are actually people that may look up to us we may not even be aware of. That's a fine contribution, thanks.

I believe every christian ought to take the lifestyle of Jesus as an example in whatever we do. As a christ before you act you should always ask yourself how will Jesus react in this scenario. Thanks brother @jaff8 for this message

Thanks for coming around. That's a good question Christians can ask before involving oneself in an activity.

Finally the purest apostle just nailed it
This is superb write up mate
Our lifestyle matters a lot as it goes on to show people if we are actually the kind that can waver when in certain circumstances or stand our ground irrespective of what is involved
Thanks for the message

Thanks mate. I'm glad you got the message.

Its fitting that you worked Proverbs onto the article! Your lifestyle and the way you project yourself could be two different things. Just like my perspective on myself is probably not the same as the majortity of the people I meet. Your way of life is more true than most people think. Thanks for the interesting read!

Thanks @ray4u, our lifestyles truly matters.

When wealth is lost, nothing is lost, when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost
-Billy Graham

I think this quote embodies the need for people around the world, not just christians, to live a life of integrity.

I really like the quote. A good lifestyle is not limited to only christians.

Sure the way one lives is very important because it affects others either in a positive or negative manner. And the truth of the matter is that no one can actually live a good lifestyle without Jesus been involved.
A godly life is a product of a life that is ruled by Jesus

Thanks for reading :)

Thank you apostle..
One has to examine himself daily ..

Thanks Nathan. Daily examination of oneself is important.

A care free lifestyle can never be helpful to anyone, cause compliments and criticism help shape us into a better person.

Thanks for coming around Dyz.

I was wondering when you would post on #steemchurch - great post to start off with.

They used to teach religious scripture at Schools in my country. People started rejecting God, so they replaced scriptures with 'Ethics classes.' Then people started rejecting ethics classes.

Now the people of our country learn how to moan, whinge and blame others for their perceived failings. They are now pitiful, lonely and unemployable.

If you can't embrace God, at least embrace the ethical lessons from the bible. Ethical people live happier lives.

It's a very sad situation. People do what is wrong and start blame-shifting. They make living a moral life so difficult, with so many obscene things around.

As Albert Camus once said, A man without ethics is a wild beast loosed upon this world.

Differentiating what is right from what is wrong, and choosing to the right thing leads to a happy and satisfied life.

Thanks for coming around SirKnight.

Living a good life is the grace of God. But we as human, we don’t have to relax instead we have to fight hard and pray.
It’s good to create a good influence in your environment.
Because we got to leave the world someday, and what will people remember us for?

We should be the change we want to see in our environments. God's servants have to strive to be different from "people without ethics".
