Satan Does Not Want To See Us Succeed In Our Service For God

"When word came to Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab and the rest of our enemies that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left in it—though up to that time I had not set the doors in the gates— Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: "Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono." But they were scheming to harm me; so I sent messengers to them with this reply: "I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down. Why should the work stop while I leave it and go down to you?" (Nehemiah 6:1-3).

When the enemies of the Jews- Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab heard that Nehemiah and his people had rebuilt the wall and no gap left in it, they were afraid and trying to stop them from completing the work they were doing. They sent letter to Nehemiah pretending they were planning something good for him and his people, to come to meet together in one of the village on the plain of Ono. But actually they were planning to harm Nehemiah and stop his great work God had given him from completing. Nehemiah knew their evil thought and wisely replied them, saying "I am doing a great work that I cannot come down".

Observe that when we are about to complete the great work God has given to us, Satan, using unbelieving people around and pretending to be the one who plans good for us, always try to stop us from completing that great work. Satan always tries to outwit us so that we might be unsuccessful in the great service God has given to us.

Therefore we must wisely know the work God has given to us is really great indeed that we should not let ourselves be stopped by our enemy – Satan from completing that great work like Nehemiah.

"Then, the fifth time, Sanballat sent his aide to me with the same message, and in his hand was an unsealed letter in which was written: "It is reported among the nations—and Geshem says it is true—that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and therefore you are building the wall. Moreover, according to these reports you are about to become their king and have even appointed prophets to make this proclamation about you in Jerusalem: 'There is a king in Judah!' Now this report will get back to the king; so come, let us meet together." (Nehemiah 6:5-7)

Notice that if Satan fails to outwit us in the first way, he always tries another way. Satan does not give up easily. He is going to frighten us thinking we would be frightened and give up the work uncompleted. But we must not be staggered by our enemy-Satan, but remember His promise to be always with us as a helper, especially in our weaknesses and pray to Him to strengthen our weak hands so that we may complete the great work He has given to us for His own glory.
