STEEMCHURCH: SELF-CONTROL

This topic is something missing in the lives of we Christians today and neglecting the teachings totally will in no small way, dent our image in the face of the unbelievers.
Many Christians believe that as soon as you accept Christ as the Lord, you can behave anyway without putting a check to it . That's not right.

Let me put it to us that self-control can take you to a big level that speaking in tongues won't take you. Now, I'm not doubting the efficacy of the Language of the Holy Ghost but remember, it takes two to tango.

DEFINITION
Self-control is the ability to guard your thoughts even before taking action (Lk 4:1-3).
The destiny of Joseph would have remained obsolete for life and remain an empty dreamer if he had succumbed to the beautiful wife of Potiphar. He understood this principle and fled for his life even when offered freely to him.

The Bible didn't say pray fornication, it says FLEE FORNICATION. Prayer couldn't have saved him over there, his heels did and self-control took him to a higher position even in a strange land.

Job controlled himself when his wife told him to curse God and die. His self-control brought him treasures that his entire generation couldn't escape from.

NOW.
Now is the time to control our mind, body and spirit. Many of us need to control our libido, wanting for alcoholism, dress types, play, even in sleeping cos time is life.

FORMS OF CONTROL

It's either you're being controlled by someone (God/devil) or you control yourself. If God takes control of your life, you are good to go but if Satan does, he will make sure you are tormented. So, choose one. God has set before you life and death, good and bad so, choose LIFE(SELFCONTROL in this context).

WAYS TO OVERCOME LACK OF SELF-CONTROL

1. Be filled with the Word of God.
2. Don't practicalize bad thoughts
3. Talk less. Some people reveal all the secrets of their families while talking in the presence of armed robbers and are attacked at midnight. (Acts 24:25).

CONSEQUENCE OF LACK OF SELF-CONTROL
** Easily trapped by sin.
** Living an unprotected life.

WORD BOMBS ON SELF CONTROL

A. The presence of dream is the presence of SELFCONTROL.

B. Self-control can take you where prayer cannot take you (Prov16:32, 25:28).

C. Self-control in alcoholism will give you dignity and savings.
