There was a little boy who sold newspapers on the streets. It was really cold and people went in and out of their houses to get away from the cold, not paying attention to him. He was so cold and not selling any of his newspapers.

Are You Tired and Cold? All You Have to do is say John 3:16

He walked down the street and saw a policeman, he walked up to him and said,

Hello Mister, Where can a poor boy find a place to sleep tonight, would you know a place like that? For some days now I’ve been sleeping in a box down the alley and it’s freaking cold out there tonight. It will be so nice to get a warm place to sleep tonight.

The officer looked down on him and said,

Walk down the street you will find a big white house, knock on the door when you get there and if anyone comes out to open the door just say John 3:16 and they will let you come in.

He walked down to the house and knocked on the door. A lady came out. He looked up at her and said “John 3:16” and the lady let him in.

Understanding God's Love For Us

The lady took him to the sitting room and he sat on the sofa close to a big old fireplace and she went on doing her chores. The little just sat there and thought to himself: John 3:16, I don’t get it, he shrugged, it however makes a boy warm.

The lady came back after some time and asked if he was hungry. He replied and said “it’s been days since I last ate and a little something to eat won’t be bad.”

She took him to the dinning and placed him in front of a table filled with wonderful delicacies. He ate and ate until he got filled. He then thought to himself again, John 3:16? I still don’t get it ,but It however makes a boy stomach full.

After eating she came back and took him to the a huge bathtub filled with water and he had a warm bath as he soaked himself for sometime. As he soaked himself in the bathtub he though to himself again, John 3 :16, I sure don’t get it, but however it makes a dirty boy clean once again.

She came back to fetch him after he had taken his bath. Took him to a room and tucked him into a nicely dressed bed, covered him with the blankets up to his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned off the light as she went to bed too. Looking outside at the window and seeing the snow falling on that cold night. He exclaimed : John 3:16, I’m I ever going to understand this, however, it sure helps a boy sleep in a warm bed.

The next day in the morning, the lady woke him up and took him to the dinning to have a wonderful meal once again. After eating she took him close to the fireplace and brought out a bible. She sat in front of him looking into his face, she asked,

Do you understand John 3:16?

No ma’am I don’t. The very first time I heard of it was last night when an officer told me to use it.

He replied

She opened the bible and read to him John 3:16 explaining to him how Jesus sacrificed his life for us on the cross to save us all. After reading he gave his life to Christ. As he sat and felt the warmth of the fire he thought to himself again

John3:16 , I don’t fully understand it yet, but it sure makes a poor lost boy safe.

Lesson

We may find it difficult to understand why God was willing to give his beloved son to die for people, and also, why Jesus agreed to such a thing. It seems very hard to comprehend the agony of our Lord and the angel sitted above as the watched Jesus suffer and die for our sake. And the great love from the people that kept Jesus until his final breath.

In the same way, we don’t have to understand why a parent, a spouse and a friend loves you dearly. So also it’s not necessary to understand why God loves us, but however it sure makes life worth living. Because for God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

God’s love keeps us going everyday, sometimes we sit down and think about it. Why does God love us so much, I’m a sinner but he still loves me still. We don’t really have to understand, in the same way he let his son die for our sins.
