Do You Believe In Prayers?

Greetings to all the parishioners of the Steemchurch community and to all great Steemains. Today I will be talking about prayers and why we should have the believe that our prayers are been heard by God and he will surely answer us.

As usual I’m going to start with a story but this time around it will be two stories but very brief I promise. Before we get to that let’s ponder on these questions, have you ever had the mind to pray for someone and you just wave it or put it on a list and say you will pray for them later or Has someone ever called or asked you to pray for them ? The story will give us an insight on how prayer works. Stay tuned!!

All Mighty Power of Prayer

This is a story of a missionary who was serving as a minister in a small field hospital in Africa, and every two weeks he goes to the city to get supplies for the hospital. The journey was a two days drive because he was using a bicycle and this required him to camp overnight halfway on the journey.

One day, he embarked on the journey to get supplies as always. His plans as soon as he got to the city was to get money from the bank and purchase the supplies and medicines, and then starts his two day journey back to the hospital.
But as soon as he got to the city, he saw two men fighting and one of them was seriously injured, he went to him and helped dressed his wounds while he spoke to him about the love of God. After that he went to get the supplies and traveled back home without any incident.

It was time to get supplies again. On getting to the city, the young whom he had treated approached him. He then confessed to the minister that they knew was with money and medicines, so he carried some his friends and followed the minister to the jungle knowing he will be camping overnight.

They planned to rob him of the money and drugs. But as we were close to your campsite, we saw 26 armed guard surrounding your tent, with that we ran away.

After the man narrated the story to the minister, he laughed and said I was alone that day in the jungle, no one was with me. The young man was persistent and said pressed the point, and said, I wasn’t the only one who saw the guards, my five friends also saw it and that was why we left you alone.

The minister was telling the story to his congregation at home, at this point, one of the members from the congregation stood to his feet and asked the minister if he could remember the exact day all these happened. The minister told everyone the date, then the man who had asked the question told his own story.

On that night of the incident in Africa, which was morning here. I was preparing to go out and Jog but felt this strong urge to pray for you. The urge was so strong I had to call other men to join me in church while we prayed for you.

Would all of those men who met with me on that day stand up.

All the men who were present that day stood up. The minister was not concerned with who they were but went on to count how many they were.

There were 26 men.

The second story,

The Prayer List

A woman walked into a grocery store, she was poorly dressed and looked like someone who had her last meal days back. She approached the grocery store attendant(owner). In a calm manner she pleaded with the him to spare her some groceries. She explained that she had 7 children and her husband was sick and they are needed something to eat.

The Owner of the store was raged and asked her to leave. But she pleaded further and promised to pay back as soon as possible. He told her he could not give his goods out on credit.

Another was standing at one corner of the counter and offered to stand good for whatever her family needed. The store owner then asked the woman,

do you have a grocery list? and

She replied “Yes I do”.

He then said

Put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will you the amount in groceries.

The woman was reluctant at first, she then took her purse out and took out a piece of ;paper and scribbled something on it and dropped It on the scale with her head bowed.
The owner of the store and the other customer were amazed when the scale went done and didn’t come up. He exclaimed

I can’t believe this

The customer began to put groceries on the other side of the scale. It was not balanced and he continued to put more until the scale was equal. The grocer couldn’t help but look in disgust.
When he grabbed the paper to see it content, he was amazed it wasn’t a grocery list but a prayer which said

Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.

He packaged the groceries and handed it to the woman as he was stunned. The woman thanked him and went home. The customer who had agreed to pay for the groceries handed him $50 and said,

It was worth every penny of it.

After sometime, that was when the grocer discovered the scales had been broken. So as we pray let’s put this in mind that

Only God knows how much a prayer weighs.

As funny as the story might sound, it still shows us the mighty power of prayers and also tell us that God hears all our prayers , All we have to do is wait and he will surely answer us at the appointed time. You might think your prayers are not heard because he hasn't answered you yet , but No! he hears all our prayers. Mark 11:24 says,

This is why I tell you, all the things you pray and ask for, have faith that you have received them, and you will have them.
