PRAY FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY

in #steemchurch7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians, It is another beautiful morning and I hope you all are enjoying this new week. Today I will be writing on a crucial and important topic which talks about praying for those in authority. I'm not exaggerating here but I must say 20% of Christians out of 100 pray for their leaders and some think they are actually bringing those leaders down by not praying for them but I does not work like that.

Insight of world leaders today

In the world today you can hardly see a democrat state or country praying fervently for their leaders. Let's take Nigeria as an example, with the current economic situation of the country most people would not even think about praying for their leaders because they are either thinking of how to survive. I must say despite all this things that are happening we still need to pray seriously for our leaders in high places. We should note that our leaders actions can affect the conditions we live in either positively or negatively, this can also extend on to our families, churches, workplaces, cities, and our country at large. When those in power are obeying and following God's step, it would also affect the nation positively because everyone will live peacefully in godliness and holiness.

Bible scriptures

Even the Bible tells us that we should pray for our leaders.

St. Paul wrote in 1 Timothy 2:1–4, I urged all believers that we should direct our petitions, intercession, prayers and thanksgiving to the kings and all those in high positions.

Prayer is important as we all know and the Bible also made special mention of praying for those in positions of power. Talking about those in power we are not only referring to politicians and so on but some of this people include government officials (international, national, and local)pastors, elders in the church, leaders in the school and so on.

In conclusion

If we make out time to pray fervently for our leaders I am sure we will experience changes in no time, but when we all neglect and allow them to rule without praying for God's guidance for them it becomes a problem and it will also affect us as I said earlier.

thanks for reading

The scriptures admonishes us to do so. When we pray for thos taking the lead, they will be able to lead more effectively. It is indeed for our own good.

Praying for leaders is not restricted to political leaders, it could be any leader at all. Spiritual leaders also have challenges too, we shouldn't abandon them. You can start by praying for @Sirknight too, who leads SteemChurch.

Well said bro,thanks for reading

Praying for our leader is actually one inmportant thing we all have always neglected due to our personal feelings about the person but we forget that any of their actions affects us in every way, taking a look at president of Nigeria majority will never agree to kneel to pray for him but what ever it is that may worry him worries us too, like when he was aick it was assumed that the whole country where sick and business and other activities in the country went back and sometime they are being controlled by a foriegn spirit ,so if we dont pray fro them the evil may overcome them and take charge of the country as they leading is also human and are prone to mistakes.

"If we make out time to pray fervently for our leaders I am sure we will experience changes in no time, but when we all neglect and allow them to rule without praying for God's guidance for them it becomes a problem and it will also affect us as I said earlier" I really like this pary

Great post @hayemz. In South Africa, we recently got a new president and this has ushered in huge optimism and hope. It is exciting to see people anticipate good things instead of more doom and gloom. But our new president is not our saviour. He will have shortcomings and make mistakes. We should pray for him as his success will be by God's grace.

Thank you for the reminder!

urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior…” -1 Timothy 2:1-3

Yes! Christianity encourages praying for our leaders. Complaining will not solve anything, prayers can.

The policies created by our leaders affect us as Christians! Praying for them is definitely not out of place.

We need to always pray for our leaders, by praying for them we are also praying for ourselves
