Samson was the original superhero - an ordinary man who received the supernatural power of the one true God, in order to bring hope and freedom to the people of God who were crushed under an oppressive government.

You have probably been exposed to Samson's story many times, but I am very much convinced that when you read through this article post you would definitely learn one or two things that would change your life tremendously.

SAMSON’S STORY IS BIGGER THAN LIFE, BUT IT CONTAINS WISDOM FOR US TODAY

In Samson's story, there are lessons about how we can also receive the power of God.

Here are 3 lessons from Samson about receiving God's power in our lives today:

1. GOD CREATED YOU FOR A HIGHER PURPOSE

In the book of the Bible Judges (Chapter 13-16) we meet Manoah and his wife, a couple who could not have children until God intervened in their situation. More than that, God specially placed their future son Samson, even before he was bound in the belly of his mother.

Samson was chosen by God to deliver the people of God. Samson grew up and knew God's will for his life. His parents made sure he heard the story of how he was chosen by God before he was born His walking orders were made clear by the angel of the Lord who had visited his parents. Moreover, God gave him supernatural power, so Samson had everything he needed to deliver the people of God, Israel, from the oppressive hands of the Philistines (see Judges 13: 5).

GOD HAS CHOOSEN YOU TOO

God chose you and gave you a goal even before you were born. When God created heaven and earth, he knew that one day you could find yourself where you are. You are created in the image of God and you are made for a purpose. One of the most important things you can do is seek God's guidance on what your most important mission should be and how best you can do it.

"Be very careful how you live," warned Paul, "not as foolhardy as wise, using the best of every opportunity, because the days are bad, so do not be stupid, but understand the will of the Lord." Ephesians 5: 15-17

2.  YOU NEED THE POWER OF GOD TO FULFILL YOUR CALLING

Samson's story illustrates how God wants us to fulfill the call he has given us. Samson could only continue his mission if God gave him strength. He could not do anything without this power; he was completely unstoppable.

The biblical message for us is that we can say with confidence to Paul,

"I can do all this through the one who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).

Peter also reminds us that

"His divine power has given us all that we need for a divine life by the knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and goodness" (2 Peter 1:3).

Our real goal is not just to work from 9 to 5. God has a plan to use you in a unique way to build your kingdom. Have you already discovered this goal? If so, have you decided ways to work it out? How different would our lives, families, churches, and communities be if we walked with a greater sense of mission, with a firm faith in God's power to help us accomplish it?

Where in your life do you need a meeting with the power of God? Maybe it's for the way you keep your older children, or keep your partner in difficult circumstances. Perhaps you need the power of God to overcome adversity. Perhaps you need the power of God to walk in the direction of a dream he has put in your heart. Wherever you are, his strength is there to take it.

But be warned: When you discover what purpose God has for you and you put the power he wants to give you, there will also be people who will try to come against you.

3.  YOU WILL MEET OPPOSITION WHILE FULFILLING THE CALL OF GOD

You probably know that Samson was confronted with all kinds of opposition when he tried to fulfill God's call. He was not only opposed by the Philistines, but sometimes by his compatriots and even by the woman he loved, Delilah.

In the same way, if we want to honor God and obey his guidance in our lives, we will face opposition.

Jesus said in John 15:20, "A servant is not greater than his master." If they persecute me, they will persecute you too. "A chapter later, Jesus says," In this world you will have problems. But take courage! I have conquered the world "(John 16:33).

Jesus' warning is not that we might face opposition as we try to fulfill our divine callings- but that we will face it. Fortunately, he did not leave us alone. Continue to lean on me, he has transferred me in different ways and I will help you to cross it. Or, as he said in the Great Commission: "Certainly, I am always with you until the end of time."

So look for God's purpose for your life; count on his strength to help you accomplish it, trust his wisdom and permanent presence to overcome obstacles, and with his help you can walk into the supernatural power of the God who helped Samson.

You can win the battles that God has called you to win, and leave the legacy of God's worship that he wants you to leave.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Sort:

"I can do all this through the one who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).

There is no power or strength that can be compared to that of our lord jesus christ, as you said give God your weakness and he will give you strength.

I always say that we were created to be spirit-assisted individuls. Without God's power we will surely amount to nothing. Thanks for showing more important key issues as you relate with the story of Samson @godswilldaudu234

All the fortunes of man is because we lack the power of GOD. To desire his power then we must live à righteous lire. Thanos for sharing

Thanks for the wonderful post bro In the Bible God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with power and he was healing all manner of diseases, raising the dead, delivering the oppressed, this power is sourced from the Holy Spirit. The Lord is our total dependence or our strength what we live by,we cannot do without Him. God promised to release that power as of old to us his children.
One thin we should know is that power is available everyday ever since but so many are deficient in it because the have failed to connect with God,many persons believe in the existence of God but disbelief the existence of the Holy Spirit believe me you they cannot access that limitless or boundless power of God.
If we can connect to this power God has released and is releasing to us our lives that of our family the environment we live in will receive a good transformation.

"But be warned: When you discover what purpose God has for you and you put the power he wants to give you, there will also be people who will try to come against you"
Absolutely true. Nice statement

Incredible post bro.
Once we understand that we all have a higher purpose to fulfil on earth here, it becomes easy and to live life believing that we have the strength of God within us.

When you discover what purpose God has for you and you put the power he wants to give you, there will also be people who will try to come against you.
Like in the case of Samson life was a typical example of the supremacy and supernatural abilities God has given him. When we rest in God, God works in us. Thanks for sharing this powerful message.

The power of God is always made available for those who are able and truely desire it.
He is the lord of all creation and he is able to provide for you according to your heart desire .
This is for those who believes that he is their Lord and also believe that he can do anything .
You have have to be with His word and allow his word to lead you before you can encounter his power
