The Peace of God

Nothing tangible can be achieved in a family, organization or society under a violent atmosphere. This was why when the world was filled with chaos in Genesis 1:1-3, the first thing that God did was to restore peace to the chaotic world, some factors can guarantee peace in the life of a person, a child of God in particular. Contentment is one of them.

1Timothy 6:6&10 says that:

”But godliness with contentment is great gain. For
the love of money is the root of all evil: which
while some coveted after; they have erred from the
faith, and pierced themselves through with many
sorrows.”

If we choose to worry rather than to have faith, we cannot live peacefully. Worry is an enemy of peace. God tells us to cast our cares upon Him and then let go of them (1 Peter 5:7).

Many persons lack peace in their life because they are not contented with what they have. They tend to participate in some nefarious activities in scour of the material things of this world which can lead to stress related illness.

We must avoid running after the material things of this world which do not yield satisfaction, or those things that attract excessive responsibilities, or those things that hurts when they have passed away. Also, beware of the abuse of substances which can bring discomfort like piles or stomach aches and other diseases to your body
Proverbs 25:16

If you have found honey, eat only enough for you, lest you have your fill of it and vomit it

How do you improve contentment? Contentment is developed when you strive to enjoy the present blessings of God in your life and give Him glory for such benefits (Ecclesiastes 5:184 9, Psalm 103:1 -5). ,

”Let your moderation be known unto all men. The
lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every
thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.”

Philippians 4:5-6

This passage reveals some other truth about having peace. One of such truths is that, having the peace of God requires you to be moderate in your lifestyle without hypocrisy. Another, is not be anxious for anything, or you might loose your God-given peace.

How do you then survive in a competitive world where the necessary or essential things of life are scarce? The truthful answer is to make your request known to God. He is Jehovah-jireh, the Great Provider. He will meet you at your point of need. It is when we obey what the Holy Spirit reprimands us to do here that the peace of the Lord will keep out hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
