A new commandment!

John 13:31-35

31 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him.
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Dear friends

At the Last Supper, Jesus also shared the bread with the disciples and washed their feet; He identify the one who will betray him and he recognized that his time had arrived. Here He leaves us his testament, Christ advises us to live according to his main mandate. The keystone to keep our building of the Christian life and the Church standing. As a good pastor, Jesus continues to teach his disciples until the last moment, before being apprehended. The last lesson of that day: That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

And why does Jesus give us this mandate? Understanding it allows us to understand God, and this is not available to our nature. But we can find several reasons to do it. The first and foremost: God is our Creator, who has made us out of nothing and keeps us in existence out of pure love. Furthermore, this command responds to our very human nature: Man lives to love and be loved, he realizes himself precisely by loving, giving and receiving love. Therefore, the precept of love is very close to our way of being; we need to love, and Christ shows us clearly that deep demand of our being.

It tells us that they will know us as their disciples, if you have love for one another (verses 34-35). In (John 13: 1b) he says "as He loved his own who were in the world, He loved them to the end." This clarifies that the commandment is not exclusive to the disciples but to all those who recognize his name, because he came, but his people did not receive it. But to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave them the right to become children of God (John 1: 11-12).

Love as well as wind, hunger, pain, joy; we can not feel it but we can appreciate its manifestations. We can appreciate the wind through the movement of the leaves of the trees; the manifestation of hunger through the emaciated face of a person; the pain manifested on a person's face; joy through a smile; and love through offering service to others. Therefore, we will fulfill the commandment of Jesus through service. The Lord taught us that he came to serve and not to be served (Mt 20:28).

Thank you very much for informing me about these blessings. Together we strengthen the church.

It seems to be hard to love one another... It is more like love who loves what I love.
