WITH LOYALTY, WE WIN EVEN ON TELOS VILLAGE

Colossians 3:12-17

v12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
v13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
v14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
v15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
v16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
v17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

In the book of 1 Samuel 20:25-42, a story is shared about David and Jonathan who weren't just friends but loyal ones to the point that Jonathan, an heir to Saul's throne did not mind giving-up his kingly ambition for the sake of loyalty to friendship.

Saul had planned to kill David. After Jonathan discovered Saul’s intent, he warned David of his father’s plans. Jonathan loyalty was not simply made up of good words alone, but of consistent action. He was loyal to David even though it was not in his own best interest.

He could have viewed David as a rival to the throne just as vehemently as his father did. Instead, Jonathan remained loyal to David. David and Jonathan parted with the same loyalty and trust that had characterized their relationship.

They departed in peace knowing each could keep his vows before the lord.

When we are loyal to someone, we will remain loyal, even if they are honoured and we are not. We will rejoice with them over God’s blessing in their lives and even when our friends are going through a difficult time in their lives, we can show our loyalty by praying for them and encouraging them in their time of need.

Implications of Loyalty for Telos Village

As we picture a land of prosperity on Telos, it is important that we also reflect the virtue that shall bring these great promises to bear. We have to be loyal to our community and our friends. Let me recap my definition of a village:

a village represents the peaceful cohabiting of a people with similar values, norms, culture who seek to preserve same for posterity.

The village is future-minded, the reason the environment is well preserved. The people are conscious of this fact and they are loyal to this goal. As we march unto Telos, may we develop a great love for our @STeemchurch and be ready to give-up our due to build her to the envy of all.

We can express our loyalty to our fellows through loving them, praying, being committed to their welfare

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help me to express my loyalty in practical ways.

Reflections:

Loyalty requires staying power to enable us overcome problems, personal desires, opposition and betrayal.
