DRESSING FOR OCCASION
You are addressed by the dressing you put on. If you are dressed up with earthly clothes, you can only influence the earth. It takes putting on Jesus to influence Heaven and earth.
What kind of clothes are we to put on?
REVELATION 19:5-8
Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
“Praise our God, all you his servants,you who fear him, both great and small!” Vs. 5
Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:“Hallelujah!Hallelujah!For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Vs. 6
Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Vs. 7
Fine linen, bright and clean,was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people) Vs. 8
This scripture describes the special dress the bride of Jesus will wear on the last day. It is going to be a white, clean and beautiful linen dress.
From the above scripture, we see that there is a link between one’s state of righteousness and the dress one is wearing. In heaven and in eternity, your dressing will speak of your righteousness.
We are to put on the clothes of righteousness.
REVELATION 19:11-14
I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. Vs. 11
His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. Vs. 12
He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. Vs. 13
The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Vs. 14
It tells us the kind of the dress the bridegroom would wear. His dressing reflects His righteousness as well as the battle He is going into.
It is important to be well dressed for every occasion.
When you are going to dine with the King of Kings, your dressing should reflect it, you should be in your best. Your dressing will show your attitude to the Lord and that can also affect what you receive from the Lord’s Table.
Do not dress in the way that will attracts rapist or gang of bad boys to you but dress in the way that will communicate good to people around and will bring good report.
Let your dressing open the doors for discussion with unbelievers.
