OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL

Every need answers to a miracle, every challenge bows to a wonder, and every desire surrenders to a sign. The supernatural is the true root of Christianity; it is what gives credibility to the Christian faith. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ was a miracle, just as his strange understanding at age 12 that amazed the doctors of the law. His ministry of signs and wonders cannot be denied: He made the blind to see, the deaf to hear and dumb to speak. His death and resurrection was a miracle.

Christ is our root in faith, and everything about Him is a miracle. Therefore, the supernatural is the security of our destiny in Christ. When we disregard the place of the supernatural, we become spiritually impotent and vulnerable to the wicked maneuvering of the devil.

'WHO ARE YOU?'

The Bible says in Isaiah 8:18:
Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

The supernatural is the birthright of every believer! Our foundation in the supernatural is defined thus by Paul in his letter to Ephesian church:

And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone ; Ephesians 2:20

We are built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Himself being the chief corner stone! Therefore, whatever we see in Christ and in the apostles and prophets must be available in us too. They operated in the supernatural, and so much more should we, because we live under a better covenant. Nothing defines Christianity as the supernatural; it is what gives colour and beauty to the faith.

But to operate in the supernatural, you must first know who you are in Christ, as the future and destiny of every believer is defined by his understanding of his root. The believer must know who he is, where he is from, and what he is worth before he can operate in the supernatural without sweat. People came to join John the Baptist and asked him "Who are you?" He replied them boldly, "I am the voice of the one crying in the wilderness." He knew who he was and what he carried. But many believers today don't know who they are or what they are worth. Is it any wonder then that they find it difficult to operate in the supernatural, which is their birthright?

YOUR SUPERNATURAL ROOT

Talking about our root in the supernatural, Jesus said:
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:6,8

Everyone that is born of the spirit being, not a spiritual being. So, new birth makes you a spirit in human flesh. Adam was a supernatural being before the fall in the Garden of Eden. He operated in the same class as God, Who always came in the cool of the day to fellowship with him. In fact, after creating the animals, God brought them all to Adam to name, and whatever name Adam gave them was the name by which they were called. His spirit was alive, and he operated in the supernatural. But Adam's spirit man died after the fall, and Adam was reduced to a natural being.

Blessed be God, however, that when Jesus came, what died in Adam was restored to the believer! Therefore, whatever virtues Adam possessed in the Garden before the fall are the same virtues you carry in your body today. You are now born of the spirit, and that which is born of the spirit is spirit! New birth enables you to share divinity with God. It is a restoration of human dignity, and is designed to restore dominion back to man kind.
