Unique + Better

So we will start with definitions...

Let's define our terms. After which we will then talk about how we can be uniquely better.

What comes to mind when we hear the word unique?

Unique: being one of a kind. Being unlike anything else

Then let's look at what it means to be better...

Better: more desirable, more effective, more excellent. As a verb it means to surpass or to improve on.

So now lets combine the two terms:

We can say that uniquely better means been one of a kind in a more excellent or effective way. Or yet still in a way that surpasses what has been or what is the norm.

So let me just state here that We serve a uniquely better God.

Let's start from creation.

The bible helps us understand that after God created things each day he kind of steps back and looks at his creation, I believe he'll smile to him self and he says "this is Good".

Then again When it was time to bring redemption to man guess what he did, he gave us his best.

He didnt with hold him self... he gave the very best Jesus. So you see that we come from a source of excellence. So we don't have a choice when it comes to been excellent. He said as he is so are we... it's our very nature to be excellent.
The truth is we are all unique. Every single one of us.

Out of the over 7billion people in the world no one is exactly like you.

No one has your same finger prints. That's how how unique we are. Only a unique God can actually create this.

So now that we have our definitions. Let's move on to How do we become uniquely better.

1. Know your source and stay connected. 👍🏽

Deut 8:18

The NLT version reads "Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath".

The Lord is our source for success.... what ever your definition for success is. Just have it at the fore front of your mind that "God is my source".

Life is spiritual. Whether we accept it or not. It's the spiritual realm that controls the physical. So we as believers need to be connected constantly to our source.

A branch draws nourishment from the root... the root is its source of nourishment. That's the same way we should see God as our source of nourishment in every aspect of our life. Even the "minutest" part
One thing that I have learnt is that God is interested in every areas of our lives. Every single area. Like there is nothing too small or trivial.

We all know of Daniel... he knew his source. Even when a decree was passed about worship of God on the realm, it didn't deter him from worshiping his God. So we need to stay Connected. It's extremely important in life. Infact too important!

2. Never criticise what you don't understand.

Ask questions instead.
This is self explanatory in a way...
But let's shed some light.
Man is a social being.

We learn every day. Your better today can be best tomorrow. Even then you don't stay there.

We live in a dynamic world. New discoveries and info pop up daily. We have to learn to be flexible and open minded.

Infact we need to be willing to unlearn and relearn. I had to highlight it because it is too important.

Even if you don't understand dont become a critic, the moment you stop learning you stop living
So go for knowledge...
Strive for it...

Let me use myself as an example. I am a eye doctor, I had bosses during my service year who condemned a particular clinical instrument.

Guys this machine gives you your desired result in split seconds but they were so caught up in their old way of doing things manually that their minds became closed to this automated stuff that saves both time and energy.

Lets not get stuck up in our local ways of doing things.

Some persons have this attitude of this is how we have been doing it and this is how we will continue to do it.

Their minds are closed to new and better ways of achieving results.

Sometimes some persons even feel threatened that you want to rob them of their relevance.

This will lead us to our next point.

3. Keep your eyes and your mind wide open.

This is kind of related to our previous point though.
Paul prayed this prayer for the church at Ephesus.

Ephesians 1:18

that's the eyes of your understanding been enlightened.

This is a one prayer that we need to pray for our self daily. Bible teachers say that there are some spirit inspired prayers in the scripture. This is one of them.

Keeping an open mind can be one of the most difficult things to practice.

It means you are open to everyone and everything that comes your way, allowing yourself to embrace different possibilities, opportunities, people, views, suggestions and interests.

But this is not to say that you have to accept everything thrown at you.

You have to filter things and take the one that adds value to you. You cannot be moved by every wind of doctrine or every latest trends. It's all about value-adding...

4. Don't be the person that makes "EXCUSES"

I don't know if you have ever met someone that always has excuse. On why things won't work, why he came late. Bla bla bla.. he always has an excuse... it can be exhausting if you get to work with such a person.

Take responsibility for your life.

We are where we are today because of our actions or inactions of yesterday.

Don't blame other people for your failures, chin up and take the reins of your life.

No brother or sister is responsible to make your life better. You are responsible for you.

Some one said our only limitations are the ones we create in our minds. We have seen people break through out of nothing. No father, no mother but they succeeded. There are principles in life. Seed time and harvest time. The bible rescords that there is time for everything under the sun. If you don't sow you won't have what to reap and even when it's time for harvest it still requires work. The fruit will not land in the basket. To harvest yam the ground must be dug.

God gave the children of Israel Manna but it was their responsibility to go out and gather the food.

##5. Don't self sabotage...
This has to do with that inner resistance or our autoimmune tendencies that holds Us back from doing what we want to do.

Alot of us are not nice to ourselves at all. Infact we are very very harsh to ourselves.

Always second guessing our abilities. Seeking affirmations from others to make us feel valuable.

We need to learn how to appreciate ourselves. We must weaken that self sabotaging tendencies.

One of the ways to do this is to celebrate your self and your milestones achieved.
Compliment yourself regularly,
speak positive about yourself to yourself.
Write your self a gratitude journal.

When we see ourselves in a better light others will also see us that way.
When i was in the university, during my very first clinical exam, it was an oral exam, we were a group of 4 students and a question was thrown at us.

Out of fear of saying the wrong things I kept mute and the guy beside me was boldly dishing out the wrong answers, I knew he was wrong. I finally found my voice. The guy argued to convince me I was wrong. The examiner was kind enough to call me after the procedure, she told me never to try that aagain that it's was better i say something even if it's wrong than not to make any effort. The examiner would see me as though i know nothing.. after that day even if i don't know the answer I just look for something to say. You cannot catch me keeping quiet during a clinical exam. We need to trust ourselves to deliver excellently.

Tell your self that

I CAN, I WILL, I SHALL, INFACT I MUST......

it's a non negotiable something 😀😀😂

My last point is...

6. Make decisions and correct your self along the way.

Don't stay indecisive. Scriptures say a double minded man cannot receive anything from God.
You don't have to have all the answers.
Your decisions do not have to be perfect before you make a move. You Just need to step out in faith. I know true life experiences of people who just took that bold step. They didn't know the end result. But our all knowing father who knows the begining from the end always made a way.

Just know that God has caused lines to fall for you in pleasant places.
Nobody says you won't meet obstacles... but guess what... the more victories you have the more your confidence in God and in yourself builds up.
After each achievement/Victory take a retrospect and see ways you could have been better.

Taking a retrospect is not a time to beat your self up for your failures its a time to learn and move on. We need to learn not to take Some things too serious. Add some sense of humour. It makes life easy.

In conclusion lets learn to ask ourselves uniquely better questions

1. Is this unique?
2. What would make it unique?
3. Is it better…really? Are there other means of improving on this?
