Naturally, if we ask someone: Do you like to win or lose? Most people would say that they like to win because logically winning is the right thing to do. But, if I say that losing can be the right thing?
When I talk about losing it may be the right thing, I am referring to giving in. An example of this is a discussion between couples. There is nothing that propagates a great conflict that innumerable arguments to obtain the "reason" and thus give the final word, who thus proceeds believes to be what he always wins, but actually winning a discussion is not as important as it seems, it is necessary to understand that the loss of a cause may be synonymous with a greater conquest.
Jesus is the greatest example of someone who seemed to lose a cause to human eyes, but he gave us through his sacrifice an even greater conquest.
The fact of losing, giving or giving up in some situations does not make us losers, on the contrary, it makes us winners. Victors over pride, anger, resentments, make us winners over our own interests so that we obtain a greater good.
The good of the Word in operation. It is in the "loss" of oneself that we demonstrate if we live in the Word, it is she who makes us reflect and manage our actions, be it in marriage, in church, at work, etc.
"Then he called the crowd with his disciples, and said: If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me, for whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me cause and for the gospel will save her.
Mark 8: 34-35:
What have we given up for love of Christ? What have we lost for a greater conquest?
Titus 2: 11-12 says, "Because the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, it teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions to live sensibly, justly and godly in this present age.
When we understand and live the principles of the Word, we put love, mercy and goodness into practice, we learn to give in, we renounce the ego and we lose our "reputation" for love of Christ and our neighbor. That is the "good to lose", to conquer a profit that has no price; To hear from the mouth of the Lord that day: "Good and faithful servant enters into the joy of your Lord.
Only those who are willing to lose achieve legitimate victories.
Maturity ends in renunciation, not in the restricted sense of the word (renunciation as abandonment), but in the sense of self-denial (renunciation of omnipotence and possessive forms of life).
To live is to renounce because to live is to choose and to opt is to renounce.
