WHAT IS SEXUAL PURITY?

Sexual purity can be defined as the dynamic choice to abstain or refrain from sexual activities outside the context and bonds of marriage. "Sex" and "Purity" are two closely related words that influences our spirit, soul and body.

Our Actions and Mindset (attitude, thought etc) towards Sexual activities, greatly determine to what extent we respond to the desires for satisfying our Sexual lives. Sexual Purity thus, is the decision to guard your heart and mind by not allowing impure thoughts or attitudes to spontaneously take over your whole being.

It is the display of belief and faith in God that we are praise-worthy (valuable, precious and credible) of more than the short-term impulses for sexual pleasures, and that our lives has been made perfect for his will.

As humans, sexual purity doesn’t just magically happen, we are filled with diverse desires, and sometimes we will want to Satisfy (give-in) to these desires (impulses). Purity doesn’t actually means that a sudden desire for sex and its activities will just be actively obliterated from our minds, instead we must have an active role in choosing to "Stay Pure".

We have to come to the realization that there are more sacrosanct things than just trying to fulfill our desires for a short-term pleasure (gain).

Our choice to stay or remain pure is an active process, it requires a great amount of our efforts, self discipline, training's acquired from our Parental and Religious background.

SEX:

This refers to any activities that is associated with or having sexual intercourse, it may also refer to all the feelings, resulting from the urge to gratify sexual impulses.

God made us sexually active beings, so that he would be a more deeply knowable creator, and that will might be able to come to that point of knowing the depth of his love for us.

Sex is not “just sex.” The Scriptures enlightens us that sex has a meaning Since th unionof a man and a woman is a beautiful picture of the gospel. Jesus, the Groom, sacrificially gives himself for his beloved bride, the church.

Sex is ultimately a picture of this redeeming love that God has demonstrated by giving up his Son to save us.

The power to know another human sexually was given to us by God, so that we might have some hint of what it will be like to know Christ supremely. Therefore, all violations (abuses) of our sexuality, distorts sincere relationship with God.

PURITY:

This is defined as the state of being unsullied, (pure immaculate etc) with respect to sin or moral wrong; lacking a knowledge of evil.

1 Corinthians 7:2
nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Paul tells us from this passage that Marriage is the only "Key" to avoiding sexual immorality. Paul made this statement in other control and regulate emotional failures that could lead to immoral sex outside of marriage. He thus advice people to get married, then they can fulfill their passions for sexual pleasures in a moral way.

Many at time we pay close attention to the “recreation” facet of sex, failing to recognize that there is another facet—procreation. Sex within marriage is admirable, pleasurable and enjoyable, It was designed by God this way.

It is God's desire that his creation (men and women) enjoy sexual activity within the spheres (confines) of marriage.

Proverbs 5:19
Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

This Scripture transparently describes the pleasure of sex. It is however pertinent, that couples comprehend God’s intent for sex as producing off-springs (children). Therefore, any form of sexual activities before marriage is doubly wrong, they are enjoying the pleasures not intended for them, and they predispose themselves to creating life outside the family structure God intended for every child.

Hebrews 13:4

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

Here, the scripture rightly points out that any immoral or idolatrous relationship outside marriage, defiles (dishonours) the "Marriage Bed".

Galatians 5:19-21

“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Paul from this passage was able to educate us about the manifestation of the works of the flesh. We as spirit-being, should safeguard our hearts and minds, focusing them on the things that are set high above. Our earthly desires for carnal manifestation should be totally dealt with, as these characters can hinder us from inheriting God's kingdom.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God….”

Here, Paul compares a believer’s self-control over his own body with living out of control, burning in passionate sexual lust. The former indicates a life that is Holy before God, while the other is living a life that clearly unholy from God's viewpoint.

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

• “Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.
• Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
• For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

Finally, the last few verses from the scripture above, addresses the question of pre-marital sex, mentioning the basis of this difficult claim on our lives.

We are to desist (refrain) from sexual intercourse with others because as Christians, we to not belong to our ourselves, but to God.

We have been given the great gift of God indwelling Spirit, who resides within us. When we unite ourselves to others through one-night stands we are violating both our own body and the Lord who has purchased us by pouring out his own body and blood for us.

Galatians 2:20

• I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless i live; not yet i, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which i now live in the flesh i live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Conclusively, all hope is not utterly destroyed if u had compromised before or you are into it and want to change. God is more than able to forgive you of all of your trespasses even the sin of premarital sex before or outside of marriage.

Our God is more than willing to forgive you of all lust and free you from all impurity through the cleansing blood of his Son, Jesus. The key is turning away from all sexual immorality and seeking to live in the forgiving love of God.
