Trials and Temptations
There is no believer that doesn't pass through trials and temptations. Even after we succeed or fail in overcoming them, they keep on happening again and again, even Jesus while on earth was tempted more than once by the devil.Temptations and Trials are lure to sin and ladder to greater heights. They are tools that determine growth or stagnacy.
Source of Trials and Temptations
1 Peter 5:8 NIV
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour"
The devil constantly seeks the downfall of a man. He is never happy knowing that a man completely loves God with all his heart and soul, so he looks for ways to turn that love into hate. He tries to put hate against God in a man heart through trials and temptation. Taking the case of JOB for example, He took everything JOB valued on earth and made it seem like God had forsaken him, but JOB overcame him because he knew mischief and destruction is of the devil. Temptations and trials are totally of the devil.
James 1:12-17 NIV
"12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
13 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;
14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.
15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
16 Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows".
Why do we go through trials and Temptations?
We go through trials and temptations because God allows them to happen to us. This brings another question;
**why do God allow us to be tried and tempted? **.
God allows trials and temptations to happen to us because they can be good for us. Yes they can be good for us because they are responsible for the building up of stronger and better believers of His words. Mind you, they are also responsible for the tearing down of believers with weak foundations or weak convictions of His words. They are test to see how obedient we can be even in the most difficult situations. They also strengthen or weaken our faith. In every point where we are being tested, God always gives us a way out, but the devil makes it seem like His ways are impossible to follow out of it.
How do we get by trials and temptations?
The best way to overcome trials and temptations is by knowing, understanding, and having complete faith or belief in the word of God. This was how Jesus overcame the devil when he was tempted by him.
Matthew 4:1-11 NIV
"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil.
2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test”
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
Being in a difficult or messy situation isn't a sin, the attitude and decisions you take during such times are what makes it a sin or not.

Trials and temptation can only be overcome by using the word of God. Interesting post
Yea,when trial and temptation rises,one thing we should know as believers is that we got the victory in Christ.we have authority in Chris over any challenges or trials and the more we put ourselves under his grace and stay on the gospel of Christ we vitally have dominion over those challenges as they rise up.Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.you see that the reason most people are not able to rise up above trials and temptations is because they are focusing on their works(law)and not on grace.
