Rejoice in the lord

in #steemchurch6 years ago

Greetings to all the great parishioners of the @steemchurch and to the pastor @sirknight. I will be sharing with us a new topic today 'rejoice in the lord' I know this topic will lift our spirits.

Philipians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

In Philippians 4:4 apostle Paul said we should rejoice in him always, which means no matter the situation maybe,no matter what we are going through we must rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again rejoice in the lord always.

Let me go into details

Rejoice means to be very happy, be delighted, exult; to feel joy,Joy is “The feeling of happiness, extreme cheerfulness” It’s the emotion we feel when life is good when the sun is shining, when our team is winning, when we are healthy, happy, and heartened.

Rejoicing in the Lord means knowing Jesus Christ as our Lord, Savior, and Treasure. It means he gives us deeper, purer, sweeter, more lasting pleasure and gladness than anything this world has to offer.Rejoicing in the Lord means that there is a new song in our hearts the song of the redeemed that the din and distresses of life cannot drown out. He is the chief object of our joy.

We rejoice because Jesus has decisively delivered us from sin’s penalty and one day will completely deliver us from its reality. We rejoice because of the good news of what Christ has done already for us.

Philippians 3:1-6
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

"whatever happens, my dear brother and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. I never get tired of telling you these"

Your source of confidence tells a lot about the kind of person that you are. Paul called the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord no matter what happens. This call came at a time when false teachers were emphasizing the need for circumcision and keeping the provision of the law as a proof of salvation.

The worshippers ( i.e the circumcised) were seen as those who have not the requirements of law but the text pointed out that true worshippers are those who worship in the spirit of God. They rely on what Christ has done and not in human effort. They rejoice in the Lord and not in their effort or in things.

Paul had all it takes to have confidence in the flesh being promoted by the false teachers but yet pointed out to them that there is only one thing to rejoice in-Jesus Christ the Lord.

Beloved where is your confidence and source of joy? Your Christian name, baptism, church membership, tithe and offering status in the church, parental connection, position, works of charity, etc are never a good place to put your confidence in. They will never give you Christian joy. I call you to make up your mind to rejoice in the Lord no matter what!
