GOD'S WORD SET OUR HEART FREE

I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word.
I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees.
Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds.
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.
Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law.
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws.
I hold fast to your statutes, Lord; do not let me be put to shame.
I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.

Word for today: "I run the path of your commands for you have set my heart free".(psalm 119:32 NIV)

At the beginning of this section, we find the psalmist experiencing great sorrow as expressed in verse 25 and 28 "I am laid low in the dust and my soul weary with sorry". His response to this situation of pain and grief, regardless of what or who may have been the cause of such, is to cry out to God for help in help in understanding the teaching of God's precepts.

He then meditate on God's wonder and ask God to strengthen him according to God's word. How do we respond to life situation that grieve our heart and cause us pains etc? Do we go around blaming people or even ourselves? The psalmist here shows us a better and more excellent way to handle such situations, which is by comparing ourselves with God's word.

As Christian we, too, need to make definite our resolution to:

• chose the way of truth

• to set our heart on the law of God

• to hold fast to his status

• finally run in the part God's command
God gives us freedom and rest from the circumstances that trouble our hearts. The more we learn, study God's word and walk in obedience to his word, he fills our lives with joy and peace, even in the midst of sorrow.

Prayer: dear father, help us (mention the name of anyone in difficult) to reflect on your word at all times especially in times of pain and sorrow.
